Best free to leave Blackburn

Leon Best

Blackburn Rovers striker Leon Best has been made available to leave the club after Derby County terminated his season-long loan deal following the signing of Darren Bent from Aston Villa.

The former Newcastle United striker joined Rovers for £3 million in 2012 and now finds himself looking for his third loan club during this time. Best spent the second half of last season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday and a return is reportedly possible.

The 28-year-old has been backed into 2/1 from 8/1 to join Brighton this month with Chris Hughton looking to add firepower to his team with Chris O’Grady linked with a transfer to League One side Sheffield United.

Another club linked with the out-of-favour striker is Nottingham Forest, who have scored just twice in their last six games with the pressure mounting on manager Stuart Pearce.

Leon Best’s club after the January window:

Brighton – 2/1 (from 8/1)

Nottingham Forest – 5/1

Wigan – 8/1

Reading – 10/1

Millwall – 12/1

Sheffield Wednesday – 14/1
