Mings on the move

Highly-rated Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings has been cut to 2/1 from 5/1 to join Arsenal in the January window following reports that an £8 million deal is close to being agreed.

The 21-year-old has played a key part in Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich being in contention for a top two spot in the Championship after an excellent first half of the season. Crystal Palace had a £3 million bid for Mings rejected on deadline day of the summer window with Neil Warnock’s side expected to be priced out of a return move for the impressive left-sided defender.

Ipswich paid just £10,000 to Chippenham in 2012 with the non-league club no doubt hoping for a sale which will see them net a small percentage of the sell-on fee.
