Inter Milan vs Torino: Preview, Prediction & Betting Tips

The league leaders Inter Milan host Torino and depending on their result against AC Milan beforehand, they could be entering the game against Torino as Champions.

Inter Milan have been tremendous this season domestically, having been leading the way for much of the season. Simone Inzaghi’s side could be champions if they win against AC Milan but if they don’t, they can secure the title at home to Torino.

There should be no injury concerns for Simone Inzaghi. Inter Milan could be without the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Henrikh Mhkitaryan if they were to pick up yellow cards in the game against AC Milan beforehand.

Perr Schuurs, Koffi Djidji, Pietro Pellegri and Gvidas Gineitis are all ruled out with injury. Samuele Ricci will be returning from suspension. Karol Linetty and Matteo Lovato are suspension risks.

The recent history between the two sides suggests that the odds will be in the favour of the league leaders next weekend. The hosts have won four out of their last five league games against Torino, with Torino only managing a single draw.

Inter Milan have recorded two consecutive 1-0 wins over Torino at the San Siro. Torino’s last point gained against their opponents for this game was in 2022. Torino being the home side in that fixture, gained a 1-1 draw and were almost close to all three points until Alexis Sanchez equalised in the 93rd minute.

Inter Milan’s home record is nothing short of excellent which is to be expected for the runaway league leaders. Simone Inzaghi’s side have played 17 games at the San Siro this season, having won 13, drawn three and losing only once this season. In their last five home league games, they have won three and drawn twice.

Inzaghi’s side have averaged 2.47 points per game at home, as well as scoring an average of 2.41 goals per game. Defensively they’ve conceded an average of 0.59 goals per game at the San Siro. In their most recent home fixture, they were held to a 2-2 draw against Cagliari thanks to a late equaliser from Nicolas Viola.

The hosts perhaps should have won the game having accumulated 2.05 xG and having 63% of the possession. The Argentine forward Lautaro Martinez has been in tremendous form this season.

Martinez currently leads the scoring charts for Inter Milan with 23 goals in 28 appearances and he could well add to his tally if he contributes in the game against AC Milan before this one. Martinez could make it consecutive games win which he has scored past Torino. The Argentine scored the second goal in the win back in October.

Torino have won only once from their last five games away from home, drawing twice and losing twice. The visitors have averaged 1.06 points away from home this season. II Toro have won four games away from home this season, drawing five and losing the remaining seven.

Torino’s last away win was against Udinese. II Toro produced a competent performance in a 2-0 win. Goals from Duvan Zapata and Nikola Vlasic secured all three points. Torino were deserved winners with an xG of 1.40 to Udinese’s 0.94.

The away side have scored an average of exactly one goal per game and defensively they have conceded 1.31 goals per game away from their home ground. Torino has kept a 50% clean sheet record this season, with 31% away from home recorded.

Former Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata is enjoying a fine campaign for Torino. Zupata has scored 12 goals and contributed four assists in 31 games this season. The Colombian striker has averaged 0.43 goals per 90 minutes this season.
