The former Spurs boss is believed to be the number one target to fill the role with Tony Pulis already ruling out a return to Selhurst Park.
Other managers linked with the job are former Crystal Palace players Tony Popovic and Dougie Freedman as well as Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe.
