Transfer Talk 24/05/2012

Welcome to my regular blog on the latest transfers in European Football. Your only place to find the latest inside information in football, with an opportunity to steal a march on the bookies and gain decent odds on potential transfers.

I will start tonight by looking at the Managerial race in the Premier League. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Paul Lambert have ruled themself out of a move to Villa Park, and i firmly believe Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet will be their next move. Poyet has done a fantastic job at The Seagulls, and may see this as an ideal opportunity to take the next step in his career. Verdict 6/10 Gus Poyet to Aston Villa as Manager Odds 10/1 Paddy Power

The vacant managerial position at Liverpool will be filled over the coming week, and i have been told that Roberto Martinez has already had a second Interview. John Henry believes he is the right man for the job, and it is a matter of time before they appoint him Verdict: 8/10 – Roberto Martinez to Liverpool odds 15/8 Paddy Power

Cardiff City today reportedly made a multi-million pound offer for Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez. Reports of a fee of around £5.5 million have been touted, and i believe he is holding out for a Premier League move. This is a big statement of intent from the Bluebirds, and i wouldn’t be surprised if they succeed in their pursuit. Verdict: 5/10 – Jay Rodriguez to Cardiff City odds 2/1 Bet Victor

It appears West Ham are looking at Free Agent Owen Hargreaves after he was released from Manchester City earlier this week. Sam Allardyce is keen to give the former England International a final chance in recovering from his chronic injury problems. Verdict 7/10

Napoli’s prolific striker Edinson Cavani has been in talks with Juventus according to his agent this week. Cavani is being chased by many sides, although it appears the Serie A champions have the edge at this stage Verdict 7/10 – Edinson Cavani to Juventus odds 4/1 Bet Victor

Finall it leads me onto an outside bet regarding Jermain Defoe. Reading today confirmed they are looking to make a big-name signing and believe Defoe to be the perfect foil for Jason Roberts. A long term contract for the 29 year old to the Madejski Stadium could be tempting to the former Charlton Athletic Trainee. Verdict 6/10

DONE DEALS: Chris Kirkland – From Wigan to Sheffield Wednesday Romain Amalfitano – Reims to Newcastle United Diego Lopez – Villareal to Sevilla

That is all the main transfer rumours doing the rounds, tune in for a further update over the weekend.
