Van Dijk in demand



Sunderland are leading the race to sign highly-rated defender Virgil van Dijk after he impressed scouts during Celtic’s 2-0 win over Kilmarnock on Monday night.

Gus Poyet has made the 23-year-old his number one centre-half target and is expected to cost in the region of £8 million after joining the Scottish champions for just £2.6 million in 2013. Celtic are reluctant to sell in this window however the defender is eager to move to the Barclays Premier League, which has alerted several other clubs including Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton.
