QUIZ: Liverpool’s 2005/06 FA Cup Winning Squad

QUIZ: Liverpool’s 2005/06 FA Cup Winning Squad

Liverpool get their 2018/19 FA Cup campaign underway tonight with a tricky looking test against fellow Premier League outfit Wolves.

The Reds have had an outstanding season so far and sit four points at the top of the Premier League after the Christmas period. They did though suffer a first league defeat of the campaign against Manchester City last time out, so Jurgen Klopp will be keen for his side to bounce back straight away.

The FA Cup is not a competition which Liverpool have had too much recent success in and their last title came back in the 2005/06 season. That day saw them playing against West Ham United at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and it is fair to say that it was an absolute cracker of a game.

The Hammers enjoyed a brilliant start and went 2-0 up after just half an hour thanks to an own goals and a Dean Ashton strike. The Reds fought back though and got one back before half-time, before equalising just nine minutes into the second period. West Ham didn’t give up hope though and re-took the lead just 10 minutes later via a somewhat unexpected source in Paul Konchesky. It looked for all the world that the Hammers would win from there, only for Liverpool to equalise once again in the 91st minute to send it to extra time.

No goals were scored in the extra half an hour so penalties were required to separate them. Unfortunately for West Ham they failed to hold their nerve and Bobby Zamora, Anton Ferdinand and Konchesky all missed to hand the trophy to Liverpool.

With the Reds set to begin their FA Cup campaign tonight, we have put together a quiz. We want to know how many of the squad from Liverpool’s last FA Cup triumph in 2005/06 you can name. That includes the starting 11 from that day as well as the five substitutes, we have given you five minutes to try and get all 16 answers.

Good Luck!
