Manchester City Manager Odds

Since their takeover in 2008 by the Abu Dhabi Investment Group, Manchester City have had a host of expert managers who have brought the club to the highest heights of the Premier League, turning them into the most elite English club of the past decade.

This has led current manager, Pep Guardiola, to be labelled by many as the world’s best modern manager, winning more than 30 trophies overall in his managerial career, with seven of these trophies won at the Etihad.

However, his time with City could be coming to an end with reports suggesting Guardiola will not stay in Manchester amid City’s European ban, excluding them from the Champions League for next season and potentially even the season after.

Furthermore, with rumours that Guardiola will be the next Juventus manager, it is possible we will be seeing a new manager in the City dugout next year. Here are the odds markets from Paddy Power.

Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has been tipped as the favourite to become the next manager at City, with odds of 11/4. The Argentine has become one of Europe’s most sought after managers, being linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United. However, recent reports have suggested that he is ready to snub United in favour of a move to City.

Pochettino was highly praised for his time in charge of previous club Tottenham, taking them to the 2019 Champions League final, with his highest league finish being second in 2016/17.

However, Pochettino was never given the financial backing at Spurs that he would receive from the Citizens City. Should Guardiola leave City in the coming season, Pochettino could have the opportunity to write his name in the history books, alongside the likes of Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Everton boss, Carlo Ancelotti.

Also, City’s European ban might suit the highly sought after manager as he has built his reputation on taking his time to form his sides, and with the Champions League ban in place, Pochettino will have the time and finances to challenge in Europe as he did with Spurs.

It is for this reason that Paddy Power have given the former Spurs manager the odds of 11/4 to join the Premier League Champions for the coming season.

Brendan Rodgers Manchester City Odds

Brendan Rodgers has featured in reports as a candidate to replace Guardiola at City, with his odds at 9/2. Since his impressive spell at Celtic in Scotland, Rodgers has been supposedly been monitored by the club to potentially become a successor to Guardiola and by elevating his current side, Leicester City, to a Champions League spot this season he could be regarded as more than just a potential candidate.

Rodgers also famously managed Liverpool in their title race with City in the 2013/14 season, only narrowly missing out after Steven Gerrard infamously slipped, costing Rodgers the Premier League title.

A move to City may be the opportunity for Rodgers to add a Premier League title to his trophy cabinet, although his lack of experience in winning major trophies could be what keeps him away from the Etihad.

Considering this, the Northern Irishman has been given odds of 9/2 to be Manchester City’s next permanent manager.

Nuno Espirito Manchester City Odds

Nuno Espirito Santo is another candidate to take charge of Manchester City this summer, having odds of 5/1 to make the transition from Wolverhampton to Manchester. Santo has been one of the Premier League's most surprising managers since his promotion from the Championship with Wolves last season, taking the Wolves to a possible UEFA Europa League place after only a season in the Premier League.

The Portuguese’s impressive resourcefulness with players has earned him a reputation that could lead to Europe’s elite monitoring him as a potential candidate to become a manager among those star managers.

However, after just two years in the Premier League, a club like City would prefer to employ a manager with more experience. Therefore, the club would only perhaps seek to approach Santo after a few more years in the top-flight, and only if he continues in the manner he has shown this season at the Molineux.
Despite the unlikeliness of the move, Santo’s recent form and reputation with Wolves has made him a dark horse candidate to replace Guardiola.

Outside odds: Julian Nagelsmann Giovanni Van Bronckhorst

Julian Nagelsmann is quickly becoming a known name in the football leagues of Europe, managing RB Leipzig to Champions League football and serious Bundesliga title challengers.

Recent reports have claimed the German has explained a desire to manage Man City, and with his reputation increasingly growing and reports of Guardiola’s departure, Nagelsmann has become an outside contender to manage the Blues with odds of 10/1.

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst has returned to management after a short spell under Pep Guardiola as part of the Spaniard's coach staff. The Dutchman is now in charge of Guangzhou R&F, in China, following his move from City in 2020.

He is unlikely to make this move due to experience and the fact he has just recently moved, although has said the reason he moved from Feyenoord to City was to learn how the club works and learn from Guardiola, which has made managers like Mikel Arteta an elite manager. Despite this, he has the unlikely odds of 12/1.
