Former Carlisle United midfielder Adam Murray is the favourite to get the job at Holker Street.
Murray’s most notable spell in management came at Mansfield Town between December 2014 and November 2016, where he solidified the Stags place in the football league, having taken over from former Barrow manager Paul Cox, who had left the Field Mill club in 19th place.
In nearly two years at Mansfield, Murray rebuilt the squad and signed a number of notable players, increasing the quality in the squad, but, the 39-year-old didn’t see many improvements results-wise and left them in 18th place.
Just one month after leaving Mansfield, Murray joined Boston United in the Conference North to many peoples surprise, and lead them to a 15th place finish in his first half a season, before leaving them in the bottom two, stating that recruitment had not been good enough in the 2017/18 campaign, upon his departure Boston went on to finish in 9th place.
Since his days as a full-time manager, Murray has been the interim boss at Barnsley twice after both of the sackings of Daniel Stendel and Gerhard Struber, managing a total of eight matches, drawing six and losing two.
A move to Barrow would be a good move for Murray, considering his lack of success as a manager, as it would give him the platform to prove people wrong and to lay down a marker for a successful future.
Murray is priced at 3/1 to become Barrow’s next manager - Click here to claim this bet in your bet slip!
