Next Burnley Manager Odds

Burnley are on the lookout for a new manager following the shock sacking of Sean Dyche after just short of 10 years at the club.

The 50-year-old will go down as a club legend at Turf Moor, having overseen 425 matches in the dugout, earning the Clarets promotion to the Premier League via automatic promotion from the Championship in the 2013/14 and 2015/16 seasons.

Chris Wilder Odds: 6/4

Chris Wilder is also on this list of those that have been linked to the job at St James’ Park, as the former Sheffield United manager has shown his capabilities up and down the divisions in England, most notably finishing ninth in the top flight in the 2019/20 season with the Blades, which was the Bramall Lane club’s highest finish since the 1991/92 campaign.

The 54-year-old currently manages Championship outfit Middlesbrough, who are pushing for the play-off places, following 14 wins in 27 matches at the Riverside club, including FA Cup wins over Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

As mentioned above, Wilder is a manager that has worked his way up the divisions, having started at the likes of Halifax Town, before moving to Oxford United, where he lead them to promotion via Conference Premier play-offs in 2010, before moving to Sixfields to Northampton Town where he won the League Two title with 99 points in 2015/16.

The former Oxford man was a huge fan favourite at Bramall Lane, having led the club from a mid-table position in League One, to the Premier League via two automatic promotions in 2016/17 and 2018/19 finishing ninth in their first season back in the top flight since 2006/07.

Wilder is priced at 6/4 to become Burnley’s next permanent manager after Sean Dyche - click here to claim this bet in your bet slip!

Wayne Rooney Odds: 6/4

Derby County manager Wayne Rooney is also in the running to become Burnley’s next manager.

The 36-year-old is currently a manager at Derby County in the Championship and has been since November 2020 following the sacking of Phillip Cocu, managing to keep the Rams in the Championship last campaign on the last day of the season having initially taken over when they were at the bottom of the table.

This season, Derby have been plagued with off the field issues which have seen them have 21 points deducted from their overall tally, as well as transfer embargoes, but, Rooney vowed to fight on and has managed to oversee his side earn 49 points when including their deducted total which would see them currently sit in 17th; to Rooney’s credit, the Pride Park club are now nine points from safety, but, look likely to succumb to relegation.

A move to Burnley would be a step up for Rooney, with the Rams manager being priced at 6/4 to get the job at Turf Moor.

Sam Allardyce Odds: 4/1

Sam Allardyce has also been linked with the managerial vacancy at Turf Moor.

Prior to this role at West Bromwich Albion last season, the 67-year-old had a good record of keeping sides in the Premier League, having consolidated the likes of Bolton Wanderers’, Blackburn Rovers’, West Ham United’s and Sunderland’s places in the top-flight.

Allardyce, who also had a brief spell as England manager in his 30-year managerial career would likely have the personnel to achieve his aims at Burnley, as he usually plays direct football with a little bit of flair which is what the Clarets have in their ranks with wide men Dwight McNeil and Maxwel Cornet offering the latter.

Allardyce is priced at 4/1 to become Burnley’s next manager.

Michael Duff Odds: 6/1

Former club captain Michael Duff is also rumoured to be considered for the job at Turf Moor.

The 44-year-old made 342 league appearances for the Clarets between 2004 and 2016, earning himself legendary status.

Duff currently manages another former club in Cheltenham Town where he had has success, earning promotion with the Robins last season from League Two as champions, before consolidating their place in English football’s third tier.

The former Northern Ireland international is a popular figure at Turf Moor and is priced at 6/1 to become the Clarets' new manager.

Nuno Espirito Santo Odds: 22/1

The final manager on this list is former Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Santo was linked with numerous Premier League outfits last summer before the Portuguese coach decided on moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he was perhaps on the back foot from the start, with the Lilywhites expecting a world-class manager who was capable of coaching attractive football having previously had Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho at the helm.

Santo’s time at Spurs finished after just 17 matches, winning eight times. But, perhaps the Portuguese manager will be valued and rated more on his time at Molineux with Wolverhampton Wanderers where he earned promotion from the Championship in the 2017/18 season, before guiding them to a seventh-place finish in their first Premier League campaign back, qualifying them for the Europa League.

Nuno has been prided on making his side tough to beat, which is what Wolves were in his time at the club during their peak and the 48-year-old will be desperate to bounce back in style which is what Burnley could give the former FC Porto goalkeeper the chance to do.

Espirito Santo is priced at 22/1 to take over at Burnley.
