Next Crystal Palace Manager Odds

Following Crystal Palace’s 4-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion and recent 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea, there have been many calls by fans of the Selhurst Park club for Roy Hodgson to leave his role as manager of the Eagles.

This season, Palace have won just six of 24 matches which equates to a 25% win percentage, seeing the Eagles sit just five points above the Premier League’s relegation zone.

With talented stars such as Joachim Andersen, Tyrick Mitchell, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze among their ranks, it would certainly be a major blow should the club suffer relegation to the Championship.

Here, we have taken a look at candidates that have been lined up to replace the former England manager at Selhurst Park.

Kieran McKenna Odds: 4/7

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is the current favourite for the Crystal Palace job due to the impressive work the Northern Irishman has done with the Tractor Boys.

The 37-year-old previously managed both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United at youth levels prior to becoming assistant manager at Old Trafford to the likes of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before departing to Portman Road to take his first senior managerial role in December 2021.

McKenna has been a real hit with fans of the Tractor Boys having overseen 115 matches, winning 64 and drawing 33, while also earning promotion from League One in the 2022/23 season. So far, Ipswich have impressed in the second tier of English football as they sit fourth in the table with 60 points from 30 matches.

Steve Cooper Odds: 6/1

Ex-Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper is firmly in the race to become Palace’s next manager.

The 44-year-old has been a name that Palace have admired for a while with the Welshman showing his capabilities as a Premier League manager, having kept Forest in the top flight last season after earning a shock promotion.

When Cooper arrived at Forest in September 2021, he revived the City Ground club’s 2021/22 campaign, leading them from the bottom of the Championship to fourth place while being promoted via the play-offs, having seen off both Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town in the play-offs.

On top of this, Cooper did a good job while in charge of Swansea City between June 2019 and July 2021, leading the Swans to back-to-back play-off place finishes against all of the odds.

Graham Potter Odds: 13/2

Despite managing fierce rivals in Brighton & Hove Albion, Graham Potter is a name that has been linked with the job at Selhurst Park.

The 48-year-old failed miserably while at Chelsea, however, that could largely be attributed to Todd Boehly’s bizarre ownership of the Stamford Bridge club having overseen a large squad overhaul, meaning that Potter finished with 12 wins and eighth draws in charge of Chelsea.

Potter had previously received a lot of praise for the work he did while at Brighton, having secured them a 9th place finish in 2021/22, the Seagulls' highest-ever Premier League finish at the time while playing an attractive style of football.

Interestingly, it was in Sweden where Potter first broke onto the managerial scene, having managed Ostersunds between January 2011 and June 2018, winning the Division 2 Norraland title in 2011, before emerging victorious in the 2012 Division Norra on top of earning promotion from the Superettan in 2015. He also managed to win the Swedish Cup in 2016/2017 and managed the club against Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League the following campaign.

Oliver Glasner Odds: 7/1

Former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner is reportedly in the running for the job having been linked with a move to Selhurst Park nearly two years ago.

The 49-year-old Austrian memorably coached Frankfurt to Europa League glory in 2021/22 at the expense of Rangers, beating the likes of Barcelona en route to the final. On top of this, Glasner also coached Frankfurt to the 2023 DFB Pokal final, finishing as runner-up to RB Leipzig.

Before his time at Frankfurt, Glasner managed Wolfsburg where he was also highly regarded following seventh and fourth-placed finishes in 2019/20 and 2020/21. Glasner was also the manager that put LASK on the map, winning 58% of his 161 games in charge of the club, managing fourth and second-placed finishes, while initially helping them to earn promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga as Sporting Director.

Scott Parker Odds: 8/1

Former Fulham and Bournemouth manager Scott Parker has seen his odds slashed for what would be a surprise move to Selhurst Park.

The 43-year-old was most recently manager of Club Brugge between 31st December 2022 and 8th March 2023 where he won just two of his 12 matches in charge, culminating in his sacking.

As far as Parker's reputation goes in England, he has a good record in the Championship, having overseen Fulham's play-off win in the 2019/20 season as well as Bournemouth's automatic promotion in 2021/22, but, the ex-West Ham United midfielder has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League. Parker's last match in charge of a top-flight club in England saw his Bournemouth side get dismantled 9-0 by Liverpool at Anfield at the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

Julen Lopetegui Odds: 14/1

Could Julen Lopetegui be brought into Selhurst Park to replicate the impressive work he managed with Wolves last season?

The 57-year-old has managed to somewhat rebuild his managerial career following trophyless spells in charge of the likes of FC Porto, Spain and Real Madrid, having won the UEFA Europa League with Sevilla in the 2019/20 season while showing his tactical prowess at Molineux.

Lopetegui oversaw 27 matches in charge of Wolves, winning 10 and drawing six, seeing his side finish in 13th place from what was a precarious position when he took over in mid-November during the Premier League’s break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Bo Svensson Odds: 33/1

Former Mainz coach Bo Svensson comes in at 33/1 to be Palace’s next manager.

The Dane stepped down from his role as Mainz manager back in early November following nine matches without a win at the start of the current campaign, however, his work with the Bundesliga side was incredibly impressive prior to this, having secured their top-flight status with 32 points in the second half of the 2020/21 season following his appointment on 2nd January 2020, before overseeing eighth and ninth-placed finishes in 2021/22 and 2022/23.

Svensson ironically has links to Crystal Palace, having been managed by Roy Hodgson during his playing days at FC Copenhagen in the 2000/2001 season where they won the Danish Super Cup and Danish Superliga.

Footy Accumulators Prediction: Next Crystal Palace Manager

Although Kieran McKenna has moved up to favourite for the job at Selhurst Park, we believe that Steve Cooper could be most likely, as Palace wouldn't have to pay any compensation due to the Welshman not being under contract at a club, on top of the fact that he has persistently been linked with the Eagles' managerial role from his days as Swansea City manager in 2021.
