Next Norwich City Manager Odds

Norwich City are on the lookout for a new manager following the sacking of Dean Smith after the Canaries' appalling 2-1 loss to ten-men Luton Town.

This result means that Norwich have won just three of their last 13 matches in the league, seeing them sit 12 points shy of Sheffield United in the automatic promotion places, while being just three points above 16th in the table.

Smith’s record at Norwich was less than desirable, having won 16 and drawn 12 of the 56 games he oversaw, equating to a win percentage of 28.57%.

David Wagner Odds: 4/5

Former Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner has emerged as a surprise candidate for the managerial vacancy at Norwich after his sacking from Young Boys last season.

The 50-year-old notably Huddersfield in January 2019, with the club looking certain to be relegated from the Premier League. The ex-Borussia Dortmund coach moved to the John Smith’s Stadium in November 2015, and guided them to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in his first full season in charge (2016/17) after a penalty shootout win over Reading at Wembley.

To add to this, Wagner also managed to guide them to safety in the club’s first Premier League season having been one of the favourites to be relegated straight back to the second tier. Having been relegated in both of their last two top-flight campaigns following promotion, this could be a deciding factor in the Canaries' long-term plans.

Wagner’s managerial career has not taken off since his departure from Huddersfield though,, having played a large part in Schalke’s relegation to Bundesliga 2 in 2020/21, as the Royal Blues lacked confidence following a 16-game winless run just one season prior.

He was also dismissed at Young Boys in March 2022, with them trailing eventual champions FC Zurich by 15 points. The Bern-based club had won the title in each of the last three campaigns prior to his arrival.

Wagner is priced at 4/5 to replace Smith at Carrow Road - click on the link to claim this bet in your bet slip!

Scott Parker Odds: 5/1

Scott Parker will be desperate for another opportunity in management following his sacking from AFC Bournemouth at the start of the season in the aftermath of the Cherries' 9-0 hammering away at Liverpool.

Parker had seemingly fallen out with the Bournemouth board due to their lacklustre summer transfer window after guiding the club to promotion from the Championship via a second-place finish behind former club, Fulham.

Despite of this, Parker is a good Championship manager, having earned promotion with Fulham via the play-offs in 2019/20, while also finishing as runner-up last campaign with the Cherries, meaning that he has a 100% success rate when it comes to getting promoted from England’s second tier. This is something that could appeal to Norwich’s board of directors.

Parker is priced at 5/1 to succeed Smith as Norwich's manager.

Mark Robins Odds: 6/1

Former Norwich striker Mark Robins has been linked to the job at his old club having done a superb job at Coventry City.

The 51-year-old’s current side, Coventry City, currently sits 12th, just two points behind Norwich with a game in hand. Robins has overseen the Sky Blues through promotions from League Two and League One, whilst winning an EFL Trophy along the way.

Prior to his incredible achievements, Robins has also had an array of experience with struggling sides such as Rotherham United, Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United. He has dealt with both ends of the managerial spectrum.

Robins is priced at 6/1 to make a sensational return to Carrow Road.

Russell Martin Odds: 8/1

Russell Martin is another ex-Norwich player that has been linked with the job, having done a decent job at Swansea City.

At present, Swansea sit 16th in the table, just three points off the play-off places. The 36-year-old is in his second campaign as manager of the Swans, having taken over in August 2021 following an entertaining spell as MK Dons manager between November 2019 and July 2021 where he was known for playing entertaining football while developing young talents, such as Ethan Laird of Manchester United.

Martin’s footballing ethos would be one that would be a good fit with Norwich, however, the Canaries are looking to earn a promotion back to the Premier League - Martin is yet to earn a promotion in his managerial career. The 36-year-old made 290 league appearances for Norwich and earned three promotions as a player.

Martin is priced at 8/1 to be the Canaries’ next manager.

Sean Dyche Odds: 12/1

Former Burnley manager Sean Dyche is also on this list of potential replacements for Smith.

In his nine years at Turf Moor, Dyche built himself a reputation for being able to manage low-budget sides to success, having earned promotion from the Championship with the Clarets in 2013/14 and 2015/16.

During his time at Burnley, Dyche even lead the club to the Europa League qualifying stages following a seventh-place finish in the 2017/18 campaign.

Due to his experience which includes winning the Championship in 2015/16, perhaps Dyche is the best option of any manager on this list, on top of the fact that he has shown he has what it takes to keep a side in the top-flight after promotion.

Dyche is priced at 12/1 to join Norwich.
