Anytime Goalscorer Treble Tip

Christmas may be well and truly behind us, but the fixtures continue to come thick and fast.

Looking ahead to this weekend’s fixtures, we’ve opted for an anytime goalscorer treble with Betfair. We’ve picked out two of Europe’s most in-form forwards and a League One striker that has six goals in his last two league games. Take a read of our selections and see if you fancy our reasonings.

Ciro Immobile – 8/13

Nineteen goals in seventeen league games. Ciro Immobile is currently soaring at the top of the Serie A’s top goalscorer charts.

Ahead of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku, the Italian has been in sensational form this season, with no other player across Europe’s top five divisions boasting more goals than the Lazio star. Such form has seen the Eagles win their last nine in the league, with Napoli at home coming up next. Despite Gennaro Gattuso’s arrival, the Blues haven’t improved too much, conceding six goals in their last three.

This statistic doesn’t bode well for Napoli, particularly considering both Lazio’s and Immobile’s recent form. In his last four home games, the Serie A top scorer has registered four goals, and we expect his fortunes to continue this Saturday. Napoli were torn apart by Inter Milan in their last showing, with their defensive line struggling to cope with the numbers up-top. Lazio are also a side that like to operate with two strikers, with only one team in the league this season keeping a clean sheet against them.

Napoli are leaking goals for fun at the moment, so we expect the division’s top scorer to fancy his chances in making it number twenty this Saturday afternoon.

Lawrence Shankland – 1/1

Following the trend of strikers sitting at the top of their league’s top scorer chart, it’s hard to overlook Lawrence Shankland’s goalscoring chances this weekend.

This is often the case whenever Dundee United are playing, as the forward is currently averaging a goal every 83 minutes in the league. With nineteen goals in just eighteen games, the Scotsman has been absolutely flying, heavily contributing to his side’s position at the top of the table. United have won ten of their last eleven games in the division, with a trip to 8th placed Patrick Thistle up next.

The two sides have already met twice this season, with Shankland getting on the score-sheet on both occasions. This makes the striker’s anytime price of 1/1 quite an intriguing one, as the stats are clearly there to back up his selection. Can he make it three times a charm on Saturday? In a game that United are heavily favoured to win, we expect their main man to find his name on the score-sheet yet again.

Matt Godden – 13/10

The biggest price selection of our goalscorer treble is Coventry’s Matt Godden at 13/10. However, if anyone should be feeling confident about grabbing a goal this weekend, it should be this man – the forward has just scored back-to-back hatricks in the league.

Godden’s two hatricks helped guide the Sky Blues to two huge victories away at both Wycombe and Tranmere, now placing them 3rd in the table. That’s three wins on the bounce for Mark Robins’ side, who welcome 20th placed MK Dons to the Rioch Arena on Saturday. Coventry have lost just once at home all season in the league, with such form justifying their short 13/20 price to get all three points. Throw into the mix that the Dons have won just once on the road, and the Sky Blues look good for their money this weekend.

Should they prevail, expect Godden to play his part. The Englishman is the club’s top scorer this season with ten, making his anytime odds of 13/10 seem rather generous.
