Brendan Rodgers now evens to become next Leicester City manager

If recent reports are to be believed, Claude Puel is a man under severe pressure at Leicester City at this moment in time.

In many ways, his spell at the club has been much like his time at Southampton. Solid enough at the start, but towards the end supporters have become bored to tears with his unadventurous style of football.

The Frenchman is softly spoken and that is perhaps reflected in his football teams, with both his Southampton and Leicester sides often appearing to play within themselves. This is a Leicester team with plenty of attacking talent, including the likes of James Maddison, Demarai Gray and Jamie Vardy.

That is perhaps why Brendan Rodgers is being targeted as their next manager. Currently, Rodgers is priced at evens with both Betfair and Paddy Power to become the next Foxes boss, should Puel receive his marching orders.

Currently, Puel is best-priced at 1/4 to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked this season. But would Rodgers really leave midway through the season?

The Northern Irishman is conquering Scotland with Celtic, having won back-to-back trebles in his first two seasons with the club but is experiencing more resistance this season from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

Rodgers came within three games of winning the Premier League title with Liverpool and has a background of being a coach that can improve players on the training ground, particularly in attacking areas. The likes of James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic have all flourished at Celtic Park under him.

The 45-year-old will likely always have interest from Premier League clubs, so is now the right time to go? Celtic are chasing a historic 10 consecutive league titles and would be two seasons shy of achieving it, should they win an eighth straight title this term.

Other contenders to replace the under-fire Puel at this point are Sean Dyche (5/2) and David Wagner (4/1), though Rodgers remains the outstanding favourite.
