Championship Value Selections – 5/10/19

Championship Value Selections – 5/10/19

The Championship can often be an unpredictable division. Regardless of form and statistics, anybody can beat anybody and we have grown to not be surprised by any matchday results.

That being said, that doesn’t mean that justifications can’t be made for picking outright winners. We are now 10 games into the season, meaning the table has started to take relative shape, allowing punters to add a bit more logic to their selections.

Looking ahead to this weekend then, we’ve highlighted some teams that look to hold big value in the betting markets. All three teams come together as a 10/1 treble with SkyBet – build the treble here.

Swansea to beat Stoke City – EVENS

Top of the table Swansea are currently EVENs to beat winless and bottom of the league Stoke City at home this Saturday.

Just from looking at the league table, this price is clearly quite a lucrative one, as the Potters have picked up just 1 point from their last 7 games. Nathan Jones is under severe pressure to quickly deliver and get his side further up the rankings, but not many will be backing them to do so against Swansea.

The Swans went top of the league after beating Charlton on Wednesday night, with it being their 6th win in 10 Championship games this season. 3 of these victories have come at the Liberty Stadium, a ground they have lost just once at in the league since the start of the year.

Such a big price for this weekend presumably comes from the fact that Swansea were winless in their last 3 before that Charlton win. They picked up their first loss of the season during this time period, before then back to back draws against Bristol City and Reading. Swansea did it the hard way against Charlton, put picking up 3 points puts the momentum in their favour this weekend.

Against bottom of the league Stoke, the league leaders will likely be a popular punt with SkyBet’s price of EVENs.

Bristol City to beat Reading – EVENS

Another team that is being priced up at EVENs for this weekend are Bristol City. Given Reading’s poor form of no wins in their last 5 league games, the Robins odds to win look quite promising.

The main focus of this justification is purely down to the Royal’s poor form, as City have slightly dropped off in recent weeks. They’ve drawn their last 3 in the league, grabbing a last minute equaliser at Brentford on Wednesday night. They are, however, unbeaten in their last 9 Championship games, scoring 16 goals along the way.

Lee Johnson will be demanding a win from his side this weekend to get the club back on track, as they continue to push for a play-off place. City are currently 7th with 17 points, with many expecting their ‘small’ blip to be over soon. At EVENs, many will be hoping for their game against Reading to be such a turning point, particularly given the fact that the Royals have picked up a single point from their last 5.

Nottingham Forest to beat Brentford – 7/4

One Championship team that is certainly in form is Nottingham Forest. Sabri Lamouchi’s men are undefeated in 9 league fixtures and have picked up 5 victories in that time. They are considerably strong at home too, registering 4 wins out of 5 in all competitions. It’s also worth noting that each of these victories have come to nil.

Next up at the City Ground is Brentford, a team with 1 win in their last 4 games. The Bees did win last time out on the road, but this was their first away victory in 4 tries. Such stats therefore make SkyBet‘s price for the home team to win at 7/4 quite an eyebrow raiser, with them also being the biggest selection of this treble.

At over EVENs, Forest will likely be a popular punt with bettors at the weekend, with the club looking to continue their pressure on both Leeds and Swansea. Can they make it 4 wins from their last 5? At 7/4, they hold big value in finding it.
