Fabian Delph transfer odds: Everton in pole position to sign England international

Odds suggest Fabian Delph could transfer to Everton this summer

Fabian Delph has enjoyed a trophy laden four year spell at Manchester City under Manuel Pellegrini and most recently Pep Guardiola, but it appears that he could be set to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Now at the age of 29, Delph will be keen to get regular first team minutes under his belt as he approaches the twilight of his career. He’s still a regular in the England squad after featuring in the UEFA Nations League in June, but with the upcoming European Championships on the horizon and the extensive pool of talent available to Gareth Southgate in midfield, he may feel he needs to move on if he’s to retain his place in the 23.

Step forward Everton. The Toffees have already been busy in the transfer market this summer following the permanent arrival of former loanee Andre Gomes from Barcelona for £22m and they’re not expected to be done there. Marco Silva has identified a number of targets to strengthen his squad across a number of areas, one of which is another England international in the form of Danny Welbeck who’s available on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at Arsenal.

Delph is also nearing the end of his contract, with his current Manchester City deal set to expire in twelve months time, so the Citizens may be tempted to cash in on him now. Sky Sports have reported that they’re yet to receive an offer for him, but Everton are expected to step up their interest over the coming days. With odds suggesing that this is a move that could happen very soon, with Sky Bet offering a price of 4/11 for the 29 year-old to move to Merseyside – making them odds-on favourites.

He made just 11 appearances in the Premier League last season, mainly at left-back in the absence of the injured Benjamin Mendy. But the emergence of Oleksandr Zinchenko coupled with the arrival of Angelino from PSV means that he will find opportunities limited there too. So a move to Everton certainly makes sense for Delph from that perspective.

At Goodison Park he would have a much better chance of picking up some valuable minutes on the pitch in his preferred midfield position and it could also lead to the departure of Idrissa Gueye. The Senegal international handed in a transfer request in January following interest from Ligue 1 champions PSG and acquiring the England man would represent a like-for-like replacement, so it could potentially lead to him moving on should more interest surface.

Galatasaray also interested in Delph transfer

One of the more surprising teams to be linked with a move for Fabian Delph, Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray are rumoured to be in for the England international.

The 29 year-old has never played for a club outside of England so moving to Turkey would certainly be an experience and it would also result in Champions League football, something which he’d be sacrificing if he moved to Everton. Coached by the legendary Fatih Terim, Gala are the most successful team in Turkish football history with their successful league campaign last term resulting in their 22nd title – so it’s a transfer that could result in a lot of silverware for Delph.

There he’d link up with former Manchester City teammate Fernando Reges who’s currently in his second year at the club, along with former Premier League men Ryan Babel, Sofiane Feghouli, Ryan Donk and Mbaye Niang. You’d expect a move there to result in plenty of minutes on the pitch so it’d be interesting to see if that ensured he keeps his place in the Three Lions’ squad.

Sky Bet currently have Galatasaray as second favourites to sign Fabian Delph this summer, offering odds of 5/1 for him to move to the Turk Telekom Stadium.
