Monday Night Goalscorer’s To Keep An Eye On

Goalscorers to look out for tonight

The EURO qualifiers are coming thick and fast, with our TV screens being plastered with footballing action everyday since Thursday. There has been some big-scoring results too, with a lot of favourites prevailing and the groups taking shape at the top.

Such action has created plenty of betting opportunities, particularly in the goalscorer’s market. For most nation’s, there is very little value in picking a game’s outright winner, but predicting a goalscorer always tends to hold the potential for a decent return.

Take a read below of some of the players that head into tonight’s fixture in hot fashion. All of the goalscorer odds mentioned are available at Betfair.

Artem Dzyuba – 4/6

Russia have experienced a successful qualifying campaign so far, winning four out of their first five games in Group I. Their only slip-up has come against the star-studded Belgium side, with Stanislav Cherchesov’s team having very little trouble in their other fixtures.

At the forefront of such success has been Artem Dzyuba, who has 6 goals in his nation’s opening 5 games. The Zenit Saint Petersburg striker has also started his domestic campaign in prolific fashion, registering 4 goals in 8 Russian Premier League fixtures so far this season. Dzyuba is very well-known in Russia and he has been his country’s main man up-top since 2018.

With 10 goals in his last 15 games in Russian colours, the striker is always fancied to have a few chances fall his way. They are favourites for their clash against Kazakhstan tonight and at 4/6 with Betfair, fellow punters will be expecting to see Dzyuba’s name on the score-sheet.

Pieros Sotiriou – 11/10

Another player in hot form during these qualifying stages has been Cyrpus striker Pieros Sotiriou. The forward has 3 goals in 4 games for his nation in Group I, with Cyrpus heading into tonight’s fixture as the huge outright favourites.

This tends to be the case when a team faces off against San Marino, due to the country’s lower quality squad. So far, San Marino are yet to score a goal in the group, conceding 24 times in just 5 games. At 11/10, Sotiriou holds big value given the circumstances, particularly when we take into account the forward’s decent form. For FC Copenhagen, the 26-year-old has 2 goals in 6 league games, with the striker also registering in the Europa League too.

Anything other than a comfortable Cyrpus victory tonight would be considered a huge upset, with the game being a great opportunity for Sotiriou to continue his form in-front of goal.

Robert Lewandowski – EVENS

Moving onto a more familiar name now and Robert Lewandowski is another clinical forward to make the list. The Bayern Munich striker has 6 goals in the club’s opening 3 Bundesliga games, including 2 in his last 4 Poland fixtures. Such statistics have become the norm for the Polish forward, making his EVENs price with Betfair quite a surprise.

Poland did look relatively poor away at Slovenia, but they are the favourites tonight at home to Austria. Friday’s fixture was the first time Jerzy Brzeczek’s side have dropped points in the group and the manager will be expecting a response.

All eyes will be on the captain to get his side firing again, with Lewandowski being a figure that can never be ruled out of getting his name on the score-sheet. His recent form in-front of goal makes his price at EVENS look very modest indeed.

Josip Iličić – 10/3

The last selection on our list is a player with big value tonight.

After defeating Poland last Friday, Slovenia look in strong form, with Betfair having them down as favourite’s ahead of their clash with Israel. With 7 goals in their last 2 games, Matjaz Kek’s side is certainly not shy of any goalscorers. One man who stands out in tonight’s anytime goalscorer markets though is Josip Llicic. The 31-year-old has hit double digits for Atalanta in the last two Serie A seasons, most recently helping his side reach the Champions League stages for the first time in their history.

For Slovenia, he has 2 goals in 5 qualifying games, with both of these coming away from home at Latvia in June. Perhaps this statistic is the reasoning behind his relatively large price, but he is a forward that is comfortable in-front of goal. For those who fancy an outside shout tonight, Slovenia’s main striker finding a goal at Israel is a 10/3 punt that potentially holds a healthy return.
