Jack Wilshere injured AGAIN as midfielder suffers another setback

New surroundings haven’t yet breeded a change in luck with injuries for West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The 26-year-old ended his 17-year association with Arsenal at the end of last season when he left the club to join West Ham on a free transfer, having been struck down by injuries throughout his time at the Emirates Stadium.

He played just 43 times in his final three seasons with the Gunners, which ultimately cost him his place in England’s World Cup squad in the summer and saw him seek pastures new at the London Stadium.

However, it has been much of the same for Wilshere, who played just four games before getting injured, and despite making his comeback as a substitute against Newcastle United, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed Wilshere has suffered yet another setback.

“Is it more serious than first thought? Maybe, because when he felt the pain it was in his ‘good’ ankle, not the ankle where he had the surgery,” he said.

“We hoped it was just a pain and that he could adjust for two or three days but for different things it’s been longer than we expected… it’s difficult to know when he’ll be back.”

Wilshere’s promising career has been held back by injuries and the midfielder hasn’t played for his country since the embarrassing defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.
