Odds suggest Juventus favourites to sign James Rodriguez

Could Juventus sign James Rodriguez this summer?

It looks as though James Rodriguez could be available for transfer this summer, and several of Europe’s biggest clubs will be taking an interest in signing him.

The Colombian has spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich from Real Madrid, but that agreement comes to an end once the current campaign finishes. It seems as though he will not be going back to the Allianz Arena, despite scoring seven goals and picking up three assists in 18 appearances this term.

It is also believed that he is not in Zinedine Zidane’s plans either, with the Frenchman hoping to have Eden Hazard in his squad instead. This is despite Rodriguez now being eligible to gain a Spanish passport, meaning that he would no longer occupy one of the three squad spaces available for non-EU players.

It means that he will likely be looking for a new club in the upcoming transfer window. And according to bookmakers Juventus are the club most likely to sign the 27-year-old, with BetVictor offering odds of 2/1 for him to move to the Italian giants.

Juventus have already agreed to sign one midfielder ahead of next season, with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey having signed a pre-contract. They have also been linked with a move for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante as Massimiliano Allegri look to bolster their options in the middle of the park.

Real Madrid are likely to set an initial asking price of around €60 million for the playmaker, but would be willing to drop to around €50 million in order to get him off their books.

Zinedine Zidane Real Madrid

It is thought that James Rodriguez is not in Zinedine Zinane’s plans for the 2019/20 season.

Who else could be interested in James Rodriguez transfer?

Should a move to the Serie A side not occur, then there are surely several other clubs across Europe who would be interested in acquiring his services. The bookmakers have Chelsea as the second favourites to sign him, with BetVictor pricing the Blues up at 6/1.

As mentioned, the Blues could well lose star man Eden Hazard to Real Madrid this summer which would leave space for another attacking player within their squad. Whilst the fans would like to see youngsters such as Callum Hudson-Odoi be given the opportunity, adding Rodriguez would also be a good move considering both Pedro and Willian are now the wrong side of 30-years-old.

Another club whose odds to sign Rodriguez are 6/1 is Paris Saint Germain. The French champions have long been touted as a potential destination for the Colombian international, with many linking him with a move to the Parc des Princes last summer.

It has even been touted that Madrid could use him as a bargaining chip in order to try and do a deal with the Parisians which would see Neymar move in the opposite direction. The deal would include Rodriguez and a fee heading PSG’s way, whilst the Brazilian, who used to play for Los Blancos’ arch-rivals Barcelona, would go to the Bernabeu. However a move for Neymar could only come into fruition if they fail to land Hazard, which is perhaps why the move to PSG isn’t considered as likely with bookies.

Eden Hazard’s potential transfer to Real Madrid could be what pushes James Rodriguez out.
