Jurgen Klopp sends message to Jose Mourinho after United sacking

Klopp: “He is an outstanding manager”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has sent a message to Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese managers’ dismissal this morning.

The 55-year-old has parted company with United following two-and-a-half years in charge at Old Trafford, with the recent 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Sunday acting as the final straw for his future at the club.

Having won the League Cup and Europa League with United, Mourinho’s time in charge of the Red Devils wasn’t a complete flop. However, with the club sitting 11 points behind the top four at this pivotal stage of the campaign, the board clearly feels that a change in direction is required to get them back on track this time out.

In his press conference ahead of Friday’s Premier League clash against Wolves, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said:

“He’s a very competitive guy. Very ambitious. Really competitive. He has all my respect.

“He’s unbelievably successful and I can imagine the last few months were not a joy for nobody, especially not him.

“It’s not nice when you have to face these questions every day but nobody can take away all the things he has won.

“I wish he has that in his mind and not other things that have happened in the last few months.

“He is an outstanding manager.”

Klopp will be hoping his side can extend their unbeaten league run to 19 matches when they travel to the West Midlands to take on Nuno Espirito Santos’ Wolves this Friday.

A win could see them go four points clear at the top of the Premier League just before Christmas, should second-place Manchester City do the unthinkable and slip up against Palace on Saturday.
