Kevin-Prince Boateng nearing incredible transfer to Barcelona

Former Portsmouth and Tottenham midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is edging closer to an incredible transfer to Barcelona this month.

According to Sky Sports News, the Ghanaian will cost Barca £1.75m to take on loan for the remainder of the season from Serie A side Sassuolo, whilst then having an option to buy him at the end of the campaign.

A deal is expected to be completed later this week, with Barcelona keen to add to their attacking options after allowing Munir El Haddadi join Sevilla, with the club already looking at other back-up centre forwards.

Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud, West Ham’s Lucas Perez and Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez have also been linked with moves to the Nou Camp in recent weeks, but Boateng could now be their man after agreeing a deal for him.

Boateng has been playing in a more advanced role for Sassuolo in recent weeks and has scored four goals in 13 appearances for the club so far this season.

The 31-year-old has had a colourful career that has taken him across Europe, playing for the likes of AC Milan, Schalke and Las Palmas, before then moving back to Italy in the summer of 2018.

It is another surprising transfer including Barcelona, who in 2017 brought another former Tottenham player to the club in Paulinho, who stayed for one season before returning to China.
