Several clubs interested in signing Luka Jovic

Where will Luka Jovic transfer to this summer?

One of the big transfer sagas that looks set to unfold this summer will involve Serbian striker Luka Jovic. The 21-year-old has been in outstanding form in the 2018/19 season for Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 22 times in 36 appearances in all competitions, including 15 in the Bundesliga.

And his breakthrough season has meant that he has gained several admiring glances from some of the biggest clubs across Europe, who look set to battle it out for his signature in the upcoming transfer window.

Jovic is currently on loan at Frankfurt from Portuguese outfit Benfica, but the Germans have the option to buy him for €8 million in the summer. Therefore it would be them that make money from a potential sale, although Benfica will retain a 20% sell-on clause.

Barcelona odds-on favourites to sign Luka Jovic

As it stands it is Barcelona who are in pole position to sign Jovic according to the bookmakers. The Catalan club are thought to be long-term admirers of the Serbian and are reportedly preparing a €50 million (£43m) bid to land the young star.

Such is their interest in the player they even sent scouts to watch him play over 20 times in the current season, whilst Ramon Planes and Eric Abidal were also sent to watch him play in Frankfurt’s recent Europa League clash against Inter Milan. They would have been impressed with what they saw too, as he scored the only goal of the game to send them through to the quarter-finals.

They have already invested in young talent by signing Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong ahead of next season, and they are reportedly keen to bring in a striker to support the ageing Luis Suarez. Paddy Power have a move to Barcelona for Jovic at odds-on, pricing it at 10/11.

Bayern Munich also in the race for Luka Jovic

Another of Europe’s elite clubs said to be interested in signing Jovic is a club who will be well aware of how well he has done this season, Bayern Munich. They of course play in the same league as the Serbian’s current club and have reportedly been impressed with his performances so far.

Whilst the Bavarians do currently have a world class striker within their ranks in Robert Lewandowski, he will turn 31-years-old ahead of next season and they are looking towards the future and bringing in the Poles long-term successor.

It was long thought that RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner was the man who Bayern would sign, but their attentions have turned towards Jovic following his outstanding season and according to Mundo Deportivo have been in contact regarding a potential transfer. Current Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac could prove to be a big factor in the club attracting the 21-year-old to them having previously managed him at Frankfurt.

Jovic is currently priced at 4/1 to sign for Bayern Munich before 9th August 2019 with Paddy Power.
