Manchester United now favourites to sign Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale priced at 7/2 to join Manchester United this summer

We’re a distance from the summer transfer window but there’s already been more than enough action surrounding rumours over Gareth Bale’s next club. An early preview recognised Inter Milan as favourites to sign Gareth Bale, but their 11/4 odds have drifted, leaving Manchester United as current frontrunners at odds of 7/2.

Manchester United adding to their attacking lineup

The incredible changing of fortunes through Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking charge of Manchester United has shown how solid they can be compared to a far inferior outfit under Jose Mourinho. Any chance of joining the club last summer looked extremely unappealing under the style imposed by Jose Mourinho, but it’s now looking like an interesting prospect with Solsjkaer at the helm.

Whether or not the club decide to change their manager, it’s likely that Gareth Bale would consider a transfer to Manchester United, where there’s enough history for it to be worth leaving Real Madrid. Manchester United were second favourites at 8/1 before seeing their price drop to 7/2. Inter Milan were looking likely to sign Gareth Bale, along with other players such as Ivan Rakitic, but their league form is dipping, meaning that they could still miss out on the top four before the end of the term.

There’s another Milan derby on the horizon, and it could be crucial with AC Milan also fighting to remain in the top four, but Internazionale’s recent issues with star striker Mauro Icardi have made it a far less appealing project for potential signings to get involved with. A complete change for both Inter Milan and Manchester United has made a place at Old Trafford look far more appetising to the current option at the San Siro, and this could be set to alter the Gareth Bale transfer odds again before the end of the term.

A lot of people predicted Gareth Bale to return to the Premier League with Manchester United, but it’s looked increasingly unlikely after recent heavy spending.

Gareth Bale far from happy at Real Madrid

Last summer’s main transfer throughout Europe saw Cristiano Ronaldo join Juventus from Real Madrid. It was a chance to dominate another major football league for the Portuguese forward, but it was also an opportunity for Gareth Bale to finally step into gear at the club after previously failing to find consistency due to a plague of injuries.

The 2018 Champions League Final saw Gareth Bale making more of an impact than Ronaldo, scoring two goals from the bench, with both being especially spectacular, but it’s not changed his place as a back-up player, leaving far too many fixtures this season where he’s not been chosen to start by either Julen Lopetegui or Santiago Solari.

His dissatisfaction has been clear to see, and he presented how frustrated he was again during Real Madrid’s last meeting with Levante, where he started on the bench but came on to score the winning penalty. Lucas Vazquez came over to celebrate with the former Spurs winger and was pushed away, showing how sick Bale clearly is with life in Madrid, indicating that a summer transfer could be in the pipeline.

Gareth Bale was clearly unhappy in only playing as a substitute against Levante

Fans of Real Madrid have been known to fall out of love with individual players, so Gareth Bale has struggled massively in attempting to fill the boots left behind by Cristiano Ronaldo. Although Gareth Bale has attempted to fit in at Real Madrid and worked as the hero they need, the club look adamant in moving him on.
