Premier League Top 6 Prediction

Premier League Top 6 Prediction

Which team are you backing to sneak into the top 6 this season?

With the season starting today and transfer deadline day drawing to a close, predictions of where teams will finish are a hot topic. It seems like this season it is harder than ever to predict where teams will finish at the end of the season. Our predictions for the Premier League top 6:

1st – Manchester City

The premier league winners are a strong pick for the top of the table pick due to winning it back to back and still looking strong. Pep Guardiola has once again brought more strength into his side with signings of Rodri and Joao Cancelo it looks like he will again look to win this title for the third time consecutively. However, the Spaniard may turn his focus on to the Champions League next season due to Manchester City never winning it despite being strong competitors over the last few years.

2nd – Liverpool

Our choice for second is Liverpool who are also a strong choice. The gap last season between Liverpool and any other team was significant and it’s going to be hard to close that gap especially after Liverpool are more likely to focus on the Premier League after winning the Champions League last season. The lack of signings to improve Liverpool’s side has brought doubt into many people’s mind in where they will finish and as a result, they could lose vital points to compared to Manchester City due to squad depth issues.

3rd – Manchester United

After a poor season last year, Manchester United have gone out and spent big in the window improving their defence significantly as well as other positions that needed improving. Arguably the biggest issue for Manchester United last season was in the defensive zone after conceding 54 goals. With this improved defence its clearer that United should concede less and therefore win more games (In theory). As a result, 3rd position looks like a likely position for them if they can perform at the level we expect them to.

4th – Arsenal

Possibly a controversial position pick, Arsenal to finish above their rivals Tottenham this season for 4th place. After signing well and improving their attack and defence, Arsenal looks like a stronger side than before and with only finishing 1 point behind Tottenham last season this could take them ahead of them in the coming season. Going forward Arsenal now look very strong with a front three that could possibly rival that of Liverpool’s however there are still questions to be asked about their defence which could be the issue for them. However, with the signing of experienced David Luiz and serial winner Keiran Tierney they could be one to watch next year.

5th – Tottenham

The decision to pick Arsenal over Tottenham was a difficult one due to how close they finished to each other last season and how good both sides are. Tottenham have improved their midfield very well but more importantly have kept most of their key players despite interest. The Champions League runners up had a very positive season last year although did lose the most games out of the Top 6, despite this still managed to finish in the top 4 spot which has to be positive from their perspective. We predict this to be an extremely close season points-wise however this time Tottenham might lose out to their rivals of Arsenal.

6th – Everton

With a strong transfer window this year, Everton have bought lots of players and improved their squad significantly both offensively and defensively. Everton looks like a stronger side than last season making some big money signings it’s just a shame they missed out on Zaha although we still feel there is potential for him to join them in January. After finishing 7th last season, we could potentially see them rise to 6th a place higher than last season ahead of Chelsea who has been transfer banned this year and lost some big names such as Eden Hazard.
