Punter cashes out for £19k on pre-season outright accumulator

Ladbrokes punter cashes out pre-season outright acca for £19k

One lucky punter has netted themselves over £19,000 in winnings this week. The customer had placed a pre-season outright accumulator on the four clubs they thought would win the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two and it would be fair to say they couldn’t have predicted it better.

They backed Manchester City, Norwich City, Luton Town and Lincoln City all to win their respective divisions, placing a £10 stake on the bet.

Three of the four sides currently sit top of the league whilst City remain in pole position in the Premier League due to their game in hand over Liverpool. But despite the bet looking likely to be a winner, the punter has decided not to see it through and cashed out for a whopping £19,620.04.

The reason for cashing out could potentially be due to Manchester City’s tussle with Liverpool for the Premier League title. It has been a race that has featured twists and turns right the way through, indeed Liverpool were as low as 4/11 to win the title at one point before a poor run allowed Pep Guardiola’s side to re-take the initiative.

Instead of trusting City to finish the job overcome their rivals they have opted for a guaranteed healthy profit – and who can blame them!

Had they held out however, the winnings would have been over £50,000 so we have a feeling that the punter will be cheering on Liverpool in the coming weeks, otherwise they may rue missing out on an extra £30,000.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Our Norwich based winner has watched three of his four selections breeze their divisions in recent weeks, but Liverpool’s resilience at the top of the table has forced an early-cash out to the cool sound of £19k.”

Manchester City are favourites to win the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool.

How do the ante-post odds compare to current odds?

As mentioned the bet in question could barely have played out any better for the punter.

Manchester City were odds on favourites to win the Premier League pre-season after accumulating 100 points in their 2017/18 title win. They find themselves in the driving seat once again despite sitting in second place, they are just two points behind Liverpool but do have a game in hand and a win in that would put them back to the top of the pile. Therefore their odds have indeed shortened from season, dropping from 8/11 favourites to 8/15.

As for Norwich City, they appear to have all but won the Championship after a remarkable recent run of form. The Canaries, managed by Daniel Farke, are seven points clear of second placed Sheffield United at the top of the second tier with just six matches of the campaign remaining.

Unlike Manchester City though, the Norfolk-based outfit were not heavily fancied before the season began. Indeed they were way out at 25/1 to lift the Championship title, but those odds are now as low as 1/12 due to their heavy advantage in the table.

Punter Norwich City

Norwich City look set to win the 2018/19 Championship.

Luton Town were only promoted into League One last season having finished second in League Two in the 17/18 season, but the punter fancied them to make the step up with ease. So much so that they backed the Hatters to win League One at odds of 12/1.

They have done just as the customer predicted too, going unbeaten since October whilst leading the division since January. They now sit eight points clear at the top and the only team who look able to stop them lifting the title are Sunderland who have a couple of games in hand. Bookmakers think Luton will hang on though and they are now 1/8 to win it.

Finally we come to Lincoln City, who have looked extremely convincing in League Two this season. They have been top of the table for a vast majority of the campaign and their 2-0 win over the then second placed team MK Dons at the weekend saw them move 11 points clear of their nearest rivals with just 15 matches left to play.

The Imps could sew up the title as soon as this coming Saturday and from a pre-season price of 15/2 to finish first their odds are now as low as 1/200.
