Robertson: Liverpool focusing on themselves

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson insists Liverpool are only focusing on their own results as they continue to chase Manchester City.

The Reds travel to Bournemouth this Saturday lunchtime with the chance to move to the top of the Premier League table – for a few hours at least – as they currently trail the league leaders by two points.

Liverpool have won each of their last four games in the Premier League and remain unbeaten in 15 games, with it being the best start the club has made to a season in their history.

Still, they aren’t at the top of the pile, but Robertson says that won’t affect their squad as they are only concerned about their own form.

“When you look at it and say ‘you’d be unbeaten at the start of December’, you [think] you’d be at the top of the league – but we’re not. We’re still chasing City,” he said.

“It’s been a good start for us, and we need to keep going, keep focusing on what we’re doing instead of looking at anyone else.

“We’re controlling what we’re doing right now, and if we keep putting the pressure on City, I’m sure it will go right to the end.”

The two teams meet in just under a month’s time, in what could prove to be a decisive game at the Etihad Stadium come the end of the season. Robertson reinforced that is the only result where they can think about their title rivals.

“The only result we can control against Manchester City is the one when they play us, other than that we can’t.

“We need to focus on our own results. We need to keep picking up the three points.”
