Big value goalscorer specials

As ever, after an international break, there is a certain buzz of excitement leading up to this weekend’s footballing action. Fans around the country always miss seeing their team in action and there are plenty of club fixtures to now look forward too, particularly in the Premier League and Championship.

Fancy an outside punt for the football on Saturday? We have picked out four potential goalscorer’s that hold some significant value.

All of the odds below are subject to change and can be found online at Betfair. Each selection can be backed as a single bet, or put together as a goalscorer accumulator too.

Diogo Jota to score – 11/5

It’s a huge fixture at Molineux this Saturday afternoon with Chelsea taking on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite their slow start to the season, Nuno Santo’s side always seem to turn up against the ‘top six’, losing just three times in eleven games against them last season. The Blues certainly know all about this record, having lost in this reverse fixture last December.

Santo’s team came back from a goal behind to win 2-1, with both Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez getting their names on the score-sheet. The prolific duo were on fire last year and we fancy Jota to get off the mark in the league this season against Chelsea this weekend. Although he hasn’t registered in the PL yet this season, he has three goals in six appearances in the Europa League.

Wolves will be keen to kick on now after qualifying and they haven’t been beaten in the league at home since January 2nd, winning six of their last ten at Molineux. Most of their players should be rejuvenated after the international break and up for the challenge. Throw into the mix that Chelsea have also conceded 9 goals this season, the second most in the division, and Jota may fancy his chances in grabbing a goal.

Callum Robinson – 11/5

The biggest surprise package in the PL so far this season has been Sheffield United. Many had written the Blades off before the start of the season, but the Yorkshire club have stayed true to their values and are currently reaping the rewards for it. They have remained committed to playing the patient way on the field, exceeded expectations and now happily sit 10th in the table.

Their comeback against Chelsea before the international break caught everybody’s attention, with the Blades now facing off against Southampton as 29/20 favourites. Chris Wilder knows that their home form this season is crucial to staying up, so expect them to push on in such fixtures in the search of all three points.

Should United get a result on the weekend, Callum Robinson is a likely figure to have some say in the matter. The Irishman has featured in all four of their PL fixtures this season, grabbing his first goal for the club at Stamford Bridge in that hard fought 2-2 draw. At 11/5 with Betfair, there is decent value to be found in the forward scoring anytime on Saturday, particularly given the fact that the Saints have conceded six times in four league games this season.

Andreas Weimann – 13/5

Bristol City are a team currently flying in the Championship and this weekend, they face bottom of the table Stoke City. Nathan Jones’ side are in a real rut this season, picking up just one point after six games. They have the worst defensive record in the division and the Robins will arrive in Staffordshire confident of three points.

Given the fact that Bristol City have scored eleven goals so far this season, many will be expecting goals at the bet365 stadium this Saturday afternoon. On paper, this certainly looks plausible, making Andreas Weimann’s Betfair anytime price at 13/5 an encouraging shout.

The lively forward has two goals and two assists in six Championship fixtures so far this season, with Lee Johnson regarding him as a key starter in his Bristol City setup. He last got in the scoresheet away at Derby County in game-week four, and we fancy his chances in scoring on the road again.

As mentioned, Stoke’s record at the back is the worst in the table, so many punter’s may also fancy the price at 5/2 for City to win the game.

Josh Harrop – 9/2

Of all the selections in the list, this is certainly the biggest long-shot. However, Josh Harrop is a man in form.

The ex-Manchester United midfielder has recently been utilised out wide and has made a big impact in Alex Neil’s side. Harrop registered two goals in two League Cup games last month, whilst also finding the back of the net against Stoke. It was certainly a productive month for the Englishman, who will be keen to carry forward this momentum after the international break.

Coming up against a rather inconsistent Brentford side, Preston look strong value at 13/8 to win the game, with Harrop’s price at 9/2 with Betfair also sticking out. The Lilywhites have been clinical going forward this season, scoring eleven Championship goals. With eight of these coming at Deepdale, many will fancy Preston to grab a couple this Saturday.
