Seven late international goals nets punter £75,000

Punter wins over £75,000 thanks to SEVEN 80+ minute goals

For many football supporters, the international break can be a little tedious. Most of us spend the two weeks pining for club football to return, although if you’re and England fan they have become a little more entertaining of late with Gareth Southgate having breathed new life into the national team.

In terms of betting, it can be difficult to find value when international matches are taking place. This was certainly the case on Tuesday 26th March, when you had Italy whose odds were 1/66 to beat Liechtenstein, Spain were priced at 1/50 to beat Malta whilst Romania were 1/5 to beat Faroe Islands.

However, one punter managed to find amazing value with a half-time/full-time treble. The bet was three national sides to be leading at half-time in matches, but with those games then all finishing as draws. The matches in question were Bosnia v Greece, Norway v Sweden and Switzerland v Denmark and they backed each home team to be in front at half-time.

The bet was placed with William Hill, £9.18 was the stake. With just 10 minutes left of each game none of the three selections were coming in, but a bonkers few moments saw seven goals go in which ultimately saw the bet land and the punter win a whopping £75,611.07.

How the half-time/full-time bet played out

As mentioned, it was a hectic last 10 minutes which led to the bet ultimately winning. The first half had gone perfectly for the punter, with each of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Norway and Switzerland leading at the break.

20 minutes into the second half Greece, who were 2-0 down, pulled a goal back whilst Miralem Pjanic was sent off for Bosnia. The Greeks went on to equalise with five minutes to play and the gam finished 2-2, first selection won.

Things looked bleak for a long time throughout the second half of Switzerland v Denmark however, with goals from Granit Xhaka and Breel Embolo seeing the Swiss take a 3-0 lead. At this point the punter in question needed a miracle, thankfully for them the Danes had one in their locker. Despite their being just six minutes left they still managed to score three goals and therefore draw the game 3-3.

The final match that they then needed to finish as a draw to win the money was Norway v Sweden. It was a frantic fixture between the two Scandinavian rivals, but Norway looked in complete control after an hour when they led 2-0. Sweden pulled on back in the 70th minutes which ultimately set up a ridiculous last 10 minutes. They then equalised with just four minutes left to play thanks to an own goal from Havard Nordtveit, and so at this point the bet was landing.

But there were more twists to come and the Swedes then went 3-2 up in the 91st minute and it looked like late heartbreak in terms of the bet. Thankfully for the punter, there was one more goal in the game and it went to Norway, with Ola Kamara netting in the 96th minute to secure a dramatic 3-3 draw and ultimately win over £75,000 for one lucky William Hill customer.
