Transfer Gossip – Who’s on the move?

With the final game of the Premier League season approaching this Sunday, the time is nearly upon us to start getting excited about transfers between clubs and who’s on the move this summer. With the window opening on the 1st June, there’s already plenty of speculation surrounding all of Europe’s biggest clubs.

We’re going to be keeping you up to date with all the latest gossip and rumours on Oddschanger throughout the summer, so keep checking back for the latest updates so you don’t miss out on anything!

Even though the window doesn’t open for another three weeks, there is already a lot of talk around some of the biggest names in European football. Wayne Rooney has reportedly agreed a ‘deal in principle’ to leave Everton and join MLS outfit DC United next month in a move that’s quite frankly taken everyone by surprise, but who will be next? Check out below who we’re expecting to be on the move over the next few months…

Nabil Fekir – Lyon to Liverpool (£62m)

26-year-old Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir is reportedly on his way to Anfield to link up with Jurgen Klopp in a move that will cost the Reds around £60m. Fekir has had a fantastic season in Ligue 1, scoring 17 goals in the French top tier and a further 5 in cup competitions. The French playmaker caused problems in the Europa League this term when he went up against the likes of CSKA Moscow, Villarreal, and Everton; attracting the interest of a host of elite clubs throughout the whole of Europe in the process.

Liverpool are currently in pole position to sign Fekir, he’d fit in perfectly in their midfield behind that seemingly unstoppable front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane and would fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho in January. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s untimely injury is a massive blow for the Reds, he was just finding his feet at Anfield but will now be sidelined for the foreseeable future after undergoing knee surgery a fortnight ago.

Emre Can is expected to depart the club in the summer, with Juventus rumoured to be his favoured destination. Adam Lallana is still not fully fit, which means Georginio Wijnaldum will be Liverpool’s only fully fit creative central midfielder going into pre-season. Fekir will offer something a bit different at Liverpool, he’s not just a creator but also knows where the goal is, making Liverpool an even more frightening prospect should they capture his signature.

Samuel Umtiti – Barcelona to Manchester United (£52m)

Barcelona centre-half Samuel Umtiti could be on his way to the Premier League to link up with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. The French defender has a release clause of £52million, which United are happy to pay in order to secure the signing. Barcelona have reportedly offered the 24-year-old a new deal, but the player is demanding a significant wage increase before committing. According to French newspaper ‘L’Equipe’, Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has said “If Umtiti wants to leave, he will do it and we will have to accept it”.

Umtiti is one of the most sought after central defenders in world football right now, he’s got every attribute you could possibly ask for as a modern day centre-back; quick, strong, agile, good in the air and strong in the tackle. He also mustered up an average passing accuracy of 91.2% this season at the Nou Camp, making him one of the best ball playing centre halves in Europe. PSG & Real Madrid are also rumoured to be interested in obtaining his services, but it’s looking more than likely that Umtiti will be a United player next season unless he can agree an improved contract with Barcelona.

Umtiti would fit in perfectly in United’s back line next to Eric Bailly;  both are young, technically gifted defenders who could really bolster the Red Devil’s back line moving forward. They need all the help they can get to reach the same level as rivals Manchester City, and acquiring the services of Umtiti would definitely do this.

Ryan Sessegnon – Fulham to PSG/Tottenham (£50m)

17-year-old left-wing back Ryan Sessegnon has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs following his performances for Fulham this season. The flying full-back has been instrumental in the Cottagers promotion push this time out and now looks set to make a mega money move to either French titans Paris Saint Germain or Tottenham. Undoubtably  standout player in the Championship this season, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been interested in signing the England u21 international since January.

Undoubtably the standout player in the Championship this season, Sessegnon’s achievements didn’t go unnoticed at last months EFL Awards when he picked up Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season and ‘Apprentice of the Season’ at the prestigious ceremony. With 15 goals in all competitions this season, he offers so much attacking threat down that left hand side and would fit into Tottenham’s side perfectly as either a full-back or a winger. PSG always encourage their full-backs to bomb on an join the attack, and he would link up with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani perfectly should he make the switch to France this summer.

It’s rumoured that Sessegnon would cost around £50 million for any club wishing to sign him this summer. That’s nothing for French powerhouses PSG who have an unlimited budget to play with in their quest for European dominance, but could be a bit of a stretch for Spurs as they have much more limited funds following the build of their new stadium. Fulham still have a chance of promotion should they win the play-offs however, and Sessegnon has said in the past that he would love to play in the Premier League with the Cottagers so he could be tempted to stay put if they go up. Should they fail to do so though he would most definitely be off to a bigger club, with PSG the current frontrunners to capture the wonder-kids signature.

Eden Hazard – Chelsea to Real Madrid (£100m)

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard is being heavily linked with Real Madrid this summer. The Belgian creator has been the shining light in an otherwise dim season at Stamford Bridge, and it now seems as though the time has come for him to move onto bigger things. With Chelsea more than likely to finish 5th this season, they’ll be absent from the Champions League next term, which is obviously a massive blow for Hazard who won’t want to miss out on next seasons competition. Madrid could be offloading Gareth Bale this summer to either Manchester United or PSG, however a swap deal for Hazard could also be on the cards with the Blues should it suit both parties.

Madrid’s technical style of football would suit Hazard down to the ground should he make the switch to the Bernabéu. The 27-year-old is one of the best dribblers in world football and can break down defences with ease, effortlessly creating chances for the attackers in front of him. He’d link up so well with star man Cristiano Ronaldo, complimenting both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos perfectly in that dynamic midfield. Madrid need to bounce back next season after playing second fiddle to rivals Barcelona in La Liga, could Hazard be the man to get them going again?
