Transfer Gossip – Who’s On The Move?

With everyone’s focus solely on the World Cup at the moment, it’s easy to forget that the summer transfer window is currently open and dealings between clubs all over Europe are very much in full swing. Below, we’ve listed some of the most talked about proposed moves over the past few days; have a read and let us know your thoughts by tweeting us @Oddschanger!

Jorginho – Napoli to Manchester City (43million)

26-year-old Napoli midfielder Jorginho is close to agreeing terms with Premier League champions Manchester City. The Brazilian born Italian international has made over 130 appearances for Napoli since he joined the club in 2014, and would give Pep Guardiola another option in central midfield now that Yaya Toure has left the club. Jorginho will give Fernandinho some healthy competition in that holding midfield role and will also offer plenty going forward with his creative link-up play. It is rumoured that the Italian has already flown to England ahead of his proposed move to the Etihad, however he still needs permission from Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis before he can speak to the Sky Blues.

Lee Grant – Stoke City to Manchester United (Free Agent)

In one of the most bizarre transfers you will ever see, Stoke City number two Lee Grant is rumoured to be moving to Manchester United as back up to both David de Gea and Sergio Romero. Grant joined The Potters from Derby County in 2016, initially on a six-month loan deal, however after impressing at the Bet365 Stadium whilst covering for first choice shot-stopper Jack Butland his move was made permanent. Chances for Grant have been limited since Butland’s return however and Grant is now looking for his final move before retirement, with Jose Mourinho keen on taking him at Manchester United as a third choice back up.

Stefan Savic – Atletico Madrid to Juventus or Chelsea (Undisclosed)

Atletico Madrid centre half Stefan Savic is rumoured to be heading to either Juventus or Chelsea this summer. The former Manchester City defender has been a mainstay in Atletico’s backline since joining the Spanish club in 2015, and this season was part of a defence that conceded just 22 times in 38 league games. The Montenegrin would fit perfectly into Chelsea and Juventus’ sides as they are both like minded, defensive outfits that play the same style as Atletico, and at just 27 years of age he’s still got plenty of years left in his career. Serie A champions Juventus are after Savic after they lost veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner to Arsenal two weeks ago. Chelsea on the other hand are looking for reinforcements after they missed out on a space in the Champions League next season. The Blues will now require a large squad to help cope with a gruelling Europa League and Premier League schedule, which is why Savic’s services would come in very handily next term.

David Brooks – Sheffield United to AFC Bournemouth (£12million)

Sheffield United youngster David Brooks has attracted interest from Premier League clubs all season, and it now looks as though Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth will be the Welsh international’s chosen destination. 20-year-old Brooks has made 33 appearances at Bramall Lane, scoring three goals for the Blades in an extremely promising season this time out. He’s got pace, trickery and flair in his locker and looks to be a really promising player for the future. Brooks will have some strong competition at The Vitality Stadium, with players such as Jordon Ibe, Junior Stanislas, Mark Pugh & Ryan Fraser all currently vying for a place in the Cherries starting line-up, but it’s a challenge the wide man will certainly relish in his quest for success in the top flight.

Jack Grealish – Aston Villa to Tottenham (25million)

Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish is expected to make his move back to the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham looking likely to be his favoured destination. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly willing to part with £20million for the highly rated England u21 international, but Villa are apparently holding out for more as they don’t want to sell their star player for anything less that £40million. There’s not a chance they’ll get that sort of money for him, however a fee in the region of £25-30million could be agreed should Spurs make an improved offer, especially considering Aston Villa’s torrid financial situation. Grealish was the standout performer in a promising season for the Villains, his creativity in the middle of the park was one of the main reasons the West Midland club nearly made it to the play-off final this season. Liverpool are also rumoured to be in for the 22-year-old, so it’s going to be really interesting to see where he ends up this summer.

Angus Gunn – Manchester City to Southampton (£15million)

Norwich and England u21 international Angus Gunn is reportedly making a switch to Southampton as back up for Alex McCarthy, who this week signed a new 4 year deal at St.Mary’s. Gunn, who spent last season on loan to Championship outfit Norwich was one of the standout players in a pretty underwhelming season at Carrow Road and is deemed to be a really exciting prospect between the sticks. The 22-year-old shot stopper has featured for England at every level up to the u21’s, making 11 appearances for Aidy Boothroyd’s junior side. Leeds were keen on taking Gunn on loan for the season, but it now looks as though he’ll be heading to the south coast for a fee in the region of £15million in a permanent deal.
