14-year-old scores first professional goal in Paraguay

History was made over the weekend as 14-year-old Fernando Ovelar scored his first professional goal in the biggest fixture in Paraguay.

Still two months short of turning 15 in the new year, Ovelar became the youngest player to score in South American football after netting for Cerro Porteno in the Superclasico against Olimpia.

Ovelar was just a week removed from making his professional debut for the club and became an instant hero when scoring in the match. He joins an esteemed list that features Freddy Adu in scoring a professional goal, with the American doing so for DC United.

Teammate Nestor Camacho, who scored Cerro Porteno’s other goal in the game, is over twice Ovelar’s age, being aged 31. Watch below to see the incredible moment where the teenager realised his dream.
