WATCH: Pigeon gets hit by ball during A-League game

The Australian A-League is a funny old place at times, with moments ranging from the bizarre to spectacular taking place in the top league down under.

Whether it be exiled Football League strikers like Ross McCormack or Andy Keogh playing in the league, scorpion kick goals or goalkeepers sarcastically jumping at wide shots, there always seems to be some sort of highlight to take from it each week.

There was yet another one this week, as Brisbane Roar took on City Football Group side Melbourne City. It ended in a 1-0 victory for Melbourne thanks to a goal from former Manchester United and Leicester City full-back Ritchie De Laet, but it proved to be the second biggest talking point of the game.

Melbourne midfielder Harrison Delbridge was inadvertently guilty of hitting a pigeon with a pass, as the bird appeared to try and make its way off the field. Instead, it took a nasty hit, being sent into the air by the ball.

Watch below to see the bizarre moment the pigeon is striked by the ball.
