Yannick Carrasco’s wife confirms Manchester United interest

According to Yannick Carrasco’s wife Noemie Happart, the Belgian international is subject to serious interest from a Premier League club.

And despite Arsenal reportedly monitoring the winger this window, it is in fact Manchester United who Noppert claims are considering signing the 25-year-old.

Carrasco is currently plying his trade in the Chinese Super League having joined Dalian Yifang from Atletico Madrid in February 2018. He has made 25 appearances whilst at the club, netting seven goals but is thought to be keen on a return to Europe.

A move to the Gunners looks unlikely given their manager Unai Emery said that there was no plans to make any permanent signings this month, with only loan deals possible for the London club. That could leave the path clear for United, although according to Noppert they are not the only two clubs to express an interest in signing the Belgian international.

“There are lots of clubs looking at him,” Noppert told Belgian outlet rtbf.be. “Lots of clubs have been in touch with him. Lots of clubs are interested. Yannick has received offers from Germany, Spain, England and Italy but nothing has been truly concrete up to now, nothing has been signed.”

When asked about Manchester United’s interest she said: “Yes, they’re very interested. I won’t hide it from you but nothing has been signed.”

According to bookmakers however, Carrasco is more likely to stay where he is this month with Sky Bet pricing him at 8/13 to remain at Dalian Yifang and 6/5 to leave. His odds to move to Manchester United are still quite long at 10/1, whilst a move to Arsenal is priced at 9/4.

Prior to moving to China, Carrasco was a regular for Atletico and made 123 appearances for them, scoring 23 times. Perhaps his most famous goal for the Spanish club was in the 2016 UEFA Champions League final when he came off the bench to net a 79th minute equaliser against local rivals Real Madrid.

He has also been a regular for Belgium since 2015, and was in the squad that reached the FIFA World Cup semi-finals last season.
