Wouldn't it just be the most outrageous summer of all time if Lionel Messi left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain just as Cristiano Ronaldo joined Manchester City. As of now, the Premier League champions are the favourite for the Portuguese legend to join, as he sits at 6/4 to make the move back to Manchester.
This transfer would cause the football world to meltdown. After six years in Manchester with Manchester United, Ronaldo brought home a Champions League and three Premier League titles in a row, while he also won the first of his five Ballon d'Or's here too.
Ronaldo has always confirmed his love for his old side in the Premier League, referring to Sir Alex Ferguson as his 'father' in football and stating that the money wouldn't change a move to Manchester City, back when he was 30 and the club had just won the Premier League in 2014.
It does look as if this transfer might just go through in some areas. The statement from Harry Kane means he is now staying at Tottenham Hotspur, forcing Pep Guardiola to get another goalscorer from somewhere, and despite the £100m signing of Jack Grealish at left-wing, Ronaldo is Ronaldo, and anyone would break the bank for him.
As of now, it seems like it all comes down to a decision from the five-time Champions League winner and whether or not he is comfortable with betraying his old side.
