Dean Henderson Transfer News & Odds

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson could be set for a move away from Old Trafford this summer, as the 25-year-old Whitehaven-born shot-stopper has played just three times this season.

Henderson was named in England’s Euro 2020 squad, but, had to pull out due to injury, having often impressed in goal for United last season and at one point, posing a significant challenge to David De Gea as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

With the World Cup taking place in Qatar from November onwards, Henderson will want to have the chance to at least challenge Jordan Pickford for the number one jersey in Gareth Southgate’s side.

Newcastle United Odds: 4/6

It is no secret that Newcastle United were after Henderson in the January transfer window, hence why they are the current bookmakers’ favourites to sign the United goalkeeper.

Martin Dubravka reportedly turned down a move to Old Trafford on loan as a part exchange as the Slovakian goalkeeper likely feared that he would be used sparingly like Henderson has been.

With the financial power Newcastle have under the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, they will likely spend big in the summer having confirmed their arrival, and a goalkeeper is one of many positions that they could strengthen, as their first choice, Dubravka, has had a series of injury problems down the years.

Henderson’s potential will likely attract Newcastle as he has the capability to grow into one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League and with the Red Devils needing to ship off players to make funds for a rebuild of their squad, this is a move that could suit both parties.

Crystal Palace Odds: 14/1

Crystal Palace are also reportedly interested in the English goalkeeper’s services, as Patrick Vieira looks to carry on his impressive squad restructure at Selhurst Park.

With first-choice goalkeeper Vicente Guaita being 35-years-old and having just one year on his contract with the Eagles, perhaps this could be a good chance to try and get a younger and more modern ball-playing goalkeeper in at the club.

Henderson is a shot-stopper with a lot of potential, and although Palace would likely have to pay a fairly decent fee for him to join, there are always the chances of getting the 25-year-old in on loan, as David De Gea’s contract expires at the end of next season and with the Spaniard on a whopping £375,000 per week, United could use this as a chance to get Henderson more experience before cleaning their wage books.

Palace are priced at 14/1 to sign Henderson from United.

West Ham Odds: 14/1

The final team on this list is West Ham United, who are no doubt in need of a new goalkeeper with Lukasz Fabianski being 37-years-old, whilst Alphonse Areola is only on loan from PSG.

With West Ham having a prize asset in the shape of Declan Rice, who United are reportedly desperate to sign in an attempt to rebuild their midfield, there is the potential that Henderson could be used as a makeweight in any form of deal for the England international.

The Hammers would certainly be interested in Henderson’s services, as he has good distribution, and can command the penalty area well, with is something that would fit well into their system.

West Ham are priced at 14/1 to sign Henderson in the upcoming summer transfer window.
