Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries has been rumoured to potentially be on his way out of the San Siro with the Nerazzuri needing some more funds in the current economic climate.

Last summer, Inter made huge profits from the sales of Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, managing to accumulate around £159m for the pair, replacing them with Edin Dzeko and Dumfries who cost the club £16m combined.

However, the latter now looks likely to leave Inter, with Simone Inzaghi’s side demanding £26m for the Dutchman. The 26-year-old former PSV man was superb at Euro 2020 and carried this form into Serie A last season, managing five goals and five assists from a right-wing-back role, averaging a goal contribution every 203 minutes.

Manchester United are reportedly frontrunners for Dumfries signature as it is no secret that Erik ten Hag is looking for a right-back with offensive and defensive qualities.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is said to be transfer listed by United due to his failure to grow since moving from Crystal Palace back in 2019, with his old club and the likes of AS Roma said to be interested, the Red Devils will be on the lookout for a new right-back, with just Diogo Dalot and Ethan Laird left as the options past Wan-Bissaka.

With Dumfries available at such an affordable price for a club like United, this could be a no-brainer, especially considering that they could likely recoup Dumfries' transfer fee from the sale of Wan-Bissaka.

Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested in Dumfries’ signature as they look to make improvements from last season’s side that finished fourth in the Premier League.

With back-up right-back Cesar Azpilicueta being linked with a move to Spain, most likely to Barcelona, Chelsea could well do with some adequate cover for James, especially considering that Azpilicueta now regularly plays his football as a centre-back due to his age and lack of pace.

The final team on this list of sides that are reportedly looking at making a move for Dumfries is German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Bayern haven’t tended to play an orthodox right-back in recent years, with Benjamin Pavard often operating out there due to his ball-playing abilities, despite starting his career as a centre-back.

Meanwhile, Senegal right-back Bouna Sarr has failed to impress since his surprise move from Marseille to the Allianz Arena in October 2020, making just 13 league appearances since then.

With Joshua Kimmich now operating at a world-class level in central midfield, there is now perhaps more of an emphasis on the right-back position at Bayern, with Dumfries being a likely option due to his market value.
