Memphis Depay is looking for a new club having left Ligue 1 outfit, Lyon, following the expiration of his contract this summer.
The 27-year-old joined Lyon from Manchester United in January 2017 for a fee of around £22m and has resurrected his career, scoring 76 goals and creating 55 assists in 178 matches across all competitions since leaving Old Trafford, which has seen a host of major European clubs interested in the Dutchman.
Barcelona are the bookie’s favourites to win the race for Depay’s signature at 1/2.
According to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, “Barcelona are still in talks with Memphis Depay as a free agent…negotiations are ongoing and they progressing on personal terms - potential contract until June 2023 or 2024.
Depay has a good relationship with current Barca manager Ronald Koeman, who he worked with when the former Barcelona defender was his manager with the Netherlands national team, which is a huge reason why Depay is looking to make the move to the Camp Nou, as well as the fact that Barca are looking to sign his international teammate Gini Wijnaldum on a free transfer from Liverpool.
Serie A champions Inter Milan are rumoured to be looking at the possibilities of signing the 27-year-old.
Manager Antonio Conte recently left the San Siro, as Inter are struggling financially and need to raise cash in order to control their financial woes, meaning that the signing of Depay on a free transfer could make sense, as they could effectively sell a player in the position that the former Manchester United man plays in and make a quick profit.
Inter are priced at 5/2 to sign Depay in the upcoming summer.
