Donyell Malen Summer Transfer Odds

PSV Eindhoven striker Donyell Malen is a player that will attract a lot of interest from major European sides, as the 22-year-old managed 27 goals and 10 assists in 45 matches for the Dutch club across all competitions last season despite Roger Schmidt’s side finishing 16 points shy of Ajax in the Eredivisie on 72 points.

German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund come in as firm favourites to sign Malen this summer, as ultimately the Black and Yellows will be looking for a replacement for Norwegian prodigy Erling Haaland within the next 12 months.

At present, it will take a huge bid to sign Haaland from Dortmund, but the Norwegian has a rumoured release clause of €75m next summer which will see a whole host of European giants circle around for the 20-year-old’s signature.

Marco Rose’s side currently have no established senior striker to rotate with Haaland at present, as they are sparsely utilising young talents such as Youssoufa Moukoko for the time being with the Cameroonian being just 16-years-old. The likes of Malen could be a vital cog in the Dortmund system in future years, due to the Dutchman’s goalscoring ability to score and link-up play, which could help the likes of Marco Reus, Julian Brandt, Thorgan Hazard and Gio Reyna form a deadly attacking line with the 22-year-old.

Liverpool have also been linked with the 22-year-old Dutchman as they are looking for an alternative option up-front, following an under-par season from Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino, who managed just nine goals in 36 appearances.

The 29-year-old Hoffenheim striker has just two years left on his current contract at Anfield and is often praised due to his superb link-up play, but, Malen could perhaps be a vast improvement on the Brazilian due to his goal tally and finishing skills, meaning Firmino’s time at Anfield could well be up.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are also a very good crossing side and utilise the flanks well, which would suit Malen due to his physical stature.

Malen is a player that will be familiar to Arsenal fans, having left the Gunners academy in 2017 to join PSV Jong. The 22-year-old will likely be on the Gunners watch list due to his impressive start to life in the Eredivisie, as well as knowing Malen’s capabilities.
