Five Players Everton Can Realistically Sign This Next Window

Adrien Rabiot PSG

A busy summer awaits Carlo Ancelotti at Everton.

The Italian manager will want to make a mark in his first summer transfer window at the club and will aim to try and help the Toffees to the next level that their rich finances have suggested they are capable of if they can just sign the right players.

Their current squad has a decent amount of quality and have arguably been punching well below their weight in the current campaign and have been looking over their shoulder a lot of the time. The team from Merseyside were in deep trouble before the board eventually ran out of patience with Marco Silva and they parted company in December.

The solution to the problems from this season can be easily resolved by getting the right players in and help make themselves an established top half side in the Premier League.

Angus Gunn

The young goalkeeper fell out of favour and has not played a league game since the 9-0 thrashing the Saints received from Leicester in October.

However, for a 24-year-old goalkeeper, he has had a good amount of top -evel experience; he was Norwich's first-choice goalkeeper two years ago and, since the start of last season, has made 30 appearances for Southampton.

If Gunn were to move to Everton, Jordan Pickford would remain as the first choice but Gunn would be a handy back up to rely on. The reason why Pickford has not been dropped this season is that, despite having a poor season between the sticks, a Pickford in poor form is still more reliable than Maarten Stekelenburg and reserve team goalkeeper, Joao Virginia.

Nicolas Tagliafico

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are reportedly tracking Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico after manager Erik Ten Hag hinted at an exit.

This is a signing that could depend on whether current left-back Lucas Digne heads out the exit door after attracting interest from top clubs in his two seasons on Merseyside.

Tagliafico has had a successful few years in his career. He has spent three years at Ajax and, in that time, has been Argentina's first-choice left-back. However Tagliafico can also play as a centre back and therefore, Everton might sign him even if Digne decides to stay.

Adrien Rabiot

One of the more ambitious targets that Everton could opt for this summer.

The French midfielder signed for Juventus on a free transfer last year following the expiry of his contract at PSG where he made his name. The move to Juventus has not worked wonders for him, having only made 21 starts this season despite being injury-free.

Rabiot is a player that would be an excellent addition to most Premier League sides and likes to dictate the tempo and can always pick out a high-quality pass with an excellent left foot in his arsenal. As a deep-lying playmaker, he will be a huge upgrade on the current midfielders in the Everton squad especially Morgan Schneiderlin and Fabian Delph.

One big factor that Ancelotti needs to consider is that the signing of Rabiot will most likely take up a huge amount of the Toffees' transfer budget as Juventus might place a price tag of around £60m on him.

Josip Brekalo

One of the Bundesliga's best wingers this season in a campaign that saw Wolfsburg bag a respectable seventh-placed finish, Josip Brekalo would be a fabulous addition to Everton.

The 22-year-old Croatian international can play on either wing and would be a good quality replacement for Theo Walcott on the right hand side because he possesses a much better standard of speed and dribbling.

Brekalo has shown this season that he does have great potential and regular football at Wolfsburg has done no harm to his development.

The case of Brekalo could well come down to whoever snaps him up first because he is on course to be capable of playing for one of Europe's top clubs within a few years and, should a team like Everton purchase him this summer, they could be in for making a huge profit after a few seasons.

josef Martinez

One of Major League Soccer's top talents, Martinez could be a good addition to the Everton strike force.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have had brilliant campaigns and the club rejected a bid of around £85m for the latter in January. Interest will still almost certainly be high in the Brazilian forward and teams might also be willing to pay a lucrative amount for the services of Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin may not leave Everton but now might be the time for Richarlison to move on. Josef Martinez would be a good back up in the squad. Calvert-Lewin would be the first choice and Moise Kean is an excellent second choice as the young striker showed good potential prior to his move to Merseyside last year.

Martinez would be the ideal move for Everton because he is no stranger to goals and would probably be worth in the region of £15m making it a viable purchase for the Toffees.
