A return to the Premier League looks to be in the works for Gareth Bale. As of now, the forward has virtually been expelled from the Real Madrid squad. This is predominantly due to falling out of favour with manager Zinedine Zidane, leading onto the inevitable outcome of him heading for the exit doors this summer.
The Welshman was initially heavily linked with Newcastle, as part of their potential takeover deal. Such a time now feels like a lifetime ago, as negotiations dragged on over the course of 4-5 months. During this time, the Toon Army were being rumoured with moves for various superstars - even Kylian Mbappe's name propped up at one point.
Nothing could be ruled out, as shades of Manchester City's 2008 transfer window started to emerge. Bale was given odds of 4/1 to arrive to Newcastle, but as you probably don't need reminding, the takeover never materialised.
As of today, Steve Bruce's side are now 40/1 to capture his signature. Free-agent Ryan Fraser has arrived to fill in down the flanks instead, and the only way way we'll be seeing Bale grace the turf in Tyneside will be on the new Fifa.
