Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has been told that he can leave the club by manager Antonio Conte, as the Italian looks to trim the fat from his Spurs squad ahead of the upcoming 2022-23 season.

Winks has struggled for game time this season in North London, playing just 907 minutes of Premier League football in 19 league appearances, with the Englishman being handed a place in the starting XI in just nine of those 19 league matches.

The 25-year-old has seemingly fallen behind the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Rodrigo Bentancur in the midfield pecking order, and so a move away from the club may be just what is needed to reinvigorate the midfielder's career, and there is no shortage of interested clubs.

As many as 10 clubs have reportedly registered their interest in snapping the midfielder up were Tottenham to sell him, with a lot of interest from clubs in the Premier League. And with the midfield situation of many of the interested clubs looking uncertain, a move for Winks looks, even more, likelier to happen. After languishing in the relegation zone in October, winless and with no prospect of the situation improving, things looked bleak for Newcastle. But with the confirmation of a takeover by a Saudi consortium soon after, things started to look better for the Magpies.

Eddie Howe was brought in as manager and given money to spend as he looked to keep Newcastle up, with the club reaping the benefits of appointing Howe and finally being backed by their owner.

Newcastle would ultimately finish 11th, and that is because of the smart decisions made by their new owners. But they will turn their focus on to next season now, drawing up targets to improve their squad.

One area that will need refreshing is central midfield, with the club surely looking to move on the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Jeff Hendrick, whose contracts both run out soon. Shelvey's expires this month, while Hendrick's runs for two more years.

The duo are both 30-years-old and so Newcastle may be looking to replace them with the recruitment of younger midfielders who can make an impact instantly like Bruno Guimaraes has done since he joined the club.

Shelvey has been a reliable performer for the club but surely his time on Tyneside has come to an end after six years, and Hendrick has made just three appearances this season after falling out of favour - the signing of Winks would be enough to replace either of these two were they to be let go by the club, which is likely to happen.

Crystal Palace enjoyed a fine first season under the management of Patrick Vieira, with the Frenchman leading the Eagles to a 12th-place finish.

Palace fans surely enjoyed a season in which their side picked up wins against Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United, and suffered fewer defeats than the Gunners and other top-half sides such as Leicester and Wolves.

The performances of many of their summer signings have also been a source of positivity for fans, with the likes of Michael Olise, Marc Guehi and Conor Gallagher all impressing this season.

Patrick Vieira’s side will look at the ageing midfielders in their ranks and will surely be looking to get rid of some of them, with the likes of James McArthur, Cheikhou Kouyate and Luka Milivojevic all over 30 years of age. And the trio's contracts all expire soon, with 34-year-old McArthur and 32-year-old Kouyate's coming to an end this month. Club stalwart Milivojevic still has a year left on his deal so could stay and see out his final year.

It is expected that players like McArthur and Kouyate will be let go this summer. Tottenham's Winks could be a good replacement for any of them were they to leave, and if they wanted to, Palace could afford to keep Milivojevic around for another season just for depth.

After a disastrous season in which they were almost relegated, Everton will surely be looking to change their habits of the past few years to ensure they don't endure a season like the one just gone ever again.

Years of paying extortionate transfer fees for players who have failed to produce on the pitch has finally caught up with the Toffees and resulted in their awful 2021-22 season. Surely now, there will be a change in Everton's transfer policy from next season?

Winks' price tag is reported to be only around £20m, which is a small amount compared to the fees Everton have splurged on the likes of Alex Iwobi and Davy Klaassen previously.

Everton will need to bring in a midfielder anyway, with Fabian Delph out of contract this month and could leave, and the need for an upgrade on Tom Davies - both have been unimpressive in an Everton shirt, so buying Winks, who is definitely an upgrade on those two, makes sense.

And for these reasons, a move to Merseyside for the midfielder is currently odds on at 10/1.

Newly promoted Fulham will be looking to stay up in their first season back in the top flight next season rather than being relegated straight back to the Championship, and one way of staying up will be by strengthening their squad by bringing in experienced and talented players.

Fulham will be keen to avoid the mistakes of their 2018 summer transfer window - when they spent nearly £100m on eight players, all of whom failed to make an impact at the club as the Cottagers went straight back down. £30m was spent on Jean Michael Seri, a combined £40m was spent on Aleksandar Mitrovic and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and £15m was spent on Alfie Mawson.

The Cottagers need players with Premier League experience, and Winks, playing for an underachieving yet impressive Tottenham side over the past few years, offers this. Fulham need bodies in midfield - so why not Harry Winks?

Leicester have made many smart midfielder purchases in the transfer market in recent years, with the acquisitions of players like James Maddison and Wilfred Ndidi helping the Foxes to domestic cup success and to playing in Europe.

One other midfield signing that has impressed for Leicester is Belgian Youri Tielemans, and his impressive performances have seen him heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer. A high offer would surely tempt the Foxes to sell, and Arsenal have shown a willingness to spend big on midfielders such as Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in recent years, so this is a move that could happen.

With fellow midfielders Hamza Choudhury and Nampalys Mendy both out of contract next summer, a midfielder will surely be on the transfer list for Leicester. Mendy is more likely to leave than Choudhury, with the Senegalese midfielder failing to ever really establish himself as a starter for the Foxes, so Winks could be brought in to replace Mendy.

Bournemouth are back in the Premier League for the upcoming season, and just like Fulham, they will need to strengthen their squad by making some signings in the summer transfer window if they want to stay up.

Bournemouth’s previous stint in the Premier League was a five-year stretch, lasting from the 2015-16 season until the 2019-20 season, and what kept them there for so long was a combination of strong squad building and the work done by manager Eddie Howe.

But, Bournemouth have built another strong squad to reach the Premier League again, and they should be adding to that squad with experienced players, something that Winks is. The Tottenham man would surely be a replacement for Ben Pearson if Bournemouth were to let the midfielder leave.

Pearson has just not been a player that Cherries manager Scott Parker has trusted, with many of his Championship appearances this season coming as a substitute.

But with the riches that promotion to the top flight gives, Bournemouth could surely tempt Winks to the Vitality Stadium.

Ruben Neves has been linked with moves to both Arsenal and Barcelona since last season, and after many years in the West Midlands, this is potentially the last chance for Neves to get a move to a big club.

So, the midfielder may decide to leave the club he has been at since 2017 in search of trophies at a bigger club such as the Blaugrana or even the Gunners, who are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements themselves.

If Neves were to leave, that would leave a gap in Wolves’ midfield for Bruno Lage, and he would need to bring in someone to fill that gap. Another player that could potentially leave Wolves this summer is veteran Joao Moutinho, who is nearly 36 years of age. Moutinho’s contract runs out at the end of this month, so Wolves may decide to let the ageing midfielder leave and bring in someone younger to replace him.

Winks could be the answer to their midfield problems, with the Englishman also possessing intelligence in possession and progressive passing that the two Portuguese midfielders have in abundance – a Wolves move for Winks makes a lot of sense.

And so, a move to Molineux for Winks is currently at 16/1 odds.

Another Premier League side in need of midfield reinforcements is Southampton, with midfielders Stuart Armstrong and Oriol Romeu both currently 30 - the club may be looking to move them on and bring in younger blood to replace either of them.

It was a disappointing season for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, with the Saints finishing 15th in the table. Therefore, Hasenhuttl may be looking at a spending spree in the summer to refresh his squad in the aim of a better finish next season.

One reason why Southampton failed to pick up a lot of points was their inability to control matches, but the signing of someone like Winks could help them with that problem, with the 26-year-old comfortable in possession of the ball and able to progress the ball forward to Southampton’s attackers.

Winks, who has experience of playing on the biggest stages such as the Champions League, would also be a valuable asset to Southampton’s younger players such as Will Smallbone and Ibrahima Diallo.

The odds of this deal occurring are currently at 18/1.

Jesse Marsch ultimately managed to keep Leeds in the Premier League last season, with the Whites finishing in 17th ahead of Burnley, who finished 18th and were relegated to the Championship.

In his limited time in his role as Leeds boss, Marsch has done well with the players at his disposal, picking up key wins against Watford, Wolves, and Brentford and picking up key points in hard-fought draws against other lower-half sides in the final months of the season.

But, Marsch will be looking to strengthen Leeds in the summer so that they do not have to face another relegation battle in the upcoming season, and one area in need of upgrades is midfield, and that is why Winks has been linked with a move to Elland Road.

Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich, while loyal servants to the club, are both in their 30s now and their contracts are set to run out in the next two years, so they could be looked at as players that could be moved on to make room for Winks. And Kalvin Phillips has long been linked with a move to a top-six side, so could this summer be the time when it actually happens?

Phillips has two years left on his contract and so Leeds may look to sell the midfielder now while they can still get a decent transfer fee for him – and any money they receive for Phillips could be used to fund a deal for Winks, who can come straight in and replace the Yorkshireman.

Heading abroad to ply their trade has become something of a regular occurrence for English footballers in recent years, with players such as Tammy Abraham, Chris Smalling and Kieran Trippier all finding success with clubs on the continent.

Could Harry Winks also do the same and make the move abroad to save his stagnating career? Sevilla’s current crop of central midfielders are all talented players, but are getting on a bit. Ivan Rakitic and Fernando are both 34, and Nemanja Gudelj and Thomas Delaney are both 30, with just Joan Jordan and Oliver Torres the only central midfielders under the age of 30.

At just 26, the hugely experienced Winks would be the youngest player in that midfield were he to join the club, and the slower pace of La Liga would surely suit Winks’ capabilities, meaning a move could be very successful for the Englishman.

And with the contracts of Rakitic, Gudelj and Fernando all coming to an end in the next two years, a move for Winks looks more likely, and makes sense for Sevilla.
