Jarrod Bowen enjoyed a fantastic season whilst playing for Hull City in 2019/20. The forward netted a brilliant 22 goals in 46 appearances for the Tigers and was even selected in the Championship Team of the Season.
His impressive displays have certainly gained him many admirers from the Premier League, and most expect the 22-year-old to transfer to the top flight this summer. For a while Tottenham Hotspur were touted as a potential destination for the former Hereford man, but it is Southampton who are currently favourites to sign him with bookmakers.
Sky Bet have the Saints clear at the top of the market with odds of 5/4 available for Bowen to move to St Mary's before the deadline in August.
Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to re-mould his squad this summer ahead of his first full campaign in charge, with an emphasis on getting young and hungry players capable of playing in his high tempo system. The signings of Moussa Djenepo from Standard Liege and Che Adams from Birmingham City have followed this brief and adding Bowen would too.
It would also increase the goal threat of the Saints heading into next season. Last term they were one of the leagues lowest scoring teams with the likes of Shane Long and Charlie Austin struggling for goals but the addition of Adams and potentially Bowen who scored 44 between them last season should see them sharpen up.
With Mohamed Elyounoussi likely to leave Southampton this summer, it does leave space for a winger in their squad to compete with the likes of Nathan Redmond and Josh Sims. Bowen would certainly be a shrewd addition and a move to St Mary's would still offer him a great chance of getting plenty of first team football as opposed to leaving Hull for one of the 'big six' clubs in the Premier League.
Arsenal odds to sign Bowen still long despite interest
Another club said to be interested in securing the transfer of Bowen this summer is Arsenal. The Gunners are working with a limited budget this window and have therefore had to search for lower priced players as opposed to competing with the huge fees being spent by the likes of Spurs and Manchester City.
Bowen is a player who would be an extremely realistic target for them and within budget, with Unai Emery's side reportedly preparing to make a £12 million bid for the player according to national British newspapers. It is thought that they have been scouting the Hull man since January and have been impressed with what they have seen.
Despite having the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang amongst their ranks already, it does seem like Arsenal are still keen to add to their forward options. They have been heavily linked with a move for Wilfried Zaha, but with Crystal Palace reportedly wanting £80 million for the Ivorian they may be priced out of signing the 26-year-old.
Should they fail to land Zaha, that may therefore lead them to pursuing a deal for Bowen who could offer better value as he is four years younger. However despite the links between Arsenal at the player, Sky Bet are still offering quite lengthy odds of 8/1 for him to move to the Emirates in this transfer window.
