Kai Havertz has become one of the brightest young talents in football this season and the 20-year-old looks set to leave Bayer Leverkusen after an electric start to his career.
Truly bursting on to the scene in the 2018/19 season, his 17 goals from midfield clinched a top-four finish for Leverkusen, whilst he became the first teenager to score 17 from this position in a single Bundesliga season.
Turning 20 in June 2019, Havertz picked up where he left off at the start of the 2019/20 season, becoming the second-youngest player to score 25 Bundesliga goals and then the youngest to hit 30. Before the season came to a halt, Havertz had 11 goal contributions in 22 Bundesliga games, as well as three goals in three Europa League games.
It will reportedly take upwards of £90 million to pry Havertz away from Leverkusen, but this will be a small price to pay for whoever snaps him up. Still a few months away from his 21st birthday, the talent that Havertz possesses is clear and any club with him in the lineup will own one of Europe’s most lethal weapons.
Here, we look at the odds from Paddy Power, to see which European giants are in pole position to land the German starlet. As things stand, it looks to be a toss-up between continued Bundesliga domination and a fresh start in England for the youngster.
