N’Golo Kante is currently facing uncertain times at Chelsea as the club is toying with the idea of letting him go, though the Frenchman would like to stay in west London at the club where he won the Premier League in 2017 and the FA Cup a year later. Many clubs who heard the rumours pounced on the player immediately, trying to sign him. One of them being Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s Manchester United.
This isn’t the first time United was linked to the French international. Back in 2016, then Red Devils’ boss José Mourinho was keen on signing the midfielder, but Chelsea beat him to it and left him to snatch up Paul Pogba. It seems now that Frank Lampard wouldn’t mind seeing Kante leaving Chelsea, and it so happens that United is on the lookout for a holding midfielder.
Old Trafford’s midfielders aren’t that bad and are still on the rise since starting to improve a year ago. With Nemanja Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay, Solksjaer has a strong midfield but the trio still needs improvement and Kante would be an upgrade being one of the best midfielders on the planet. Kante could also be a key solution for United to keep Paul Pogba on for at least another 12 months. Man United odds to sign Kante are priced 4/6 and United remain the favourites to sign Kante.
