It looks as though Daniel Sturridge could be set to leave Liverpool this summer. The 29-year-old has been at Anfield since arriving from Chelsea in 2013, but his time with the club may well be up as his contract is due to expire.
Whilst he has worked his way back into Jurgen Klopp's plans this season following a loan spell at West Brom, making several substitute appearances and scoring a vital goal away at Chelsea, he has never managed to become a regular in the German's starting 11.
Roberto Firmino is by far the Red's first choice centre forward, whilst Klopp has often opted to play Divock Origi when the Brazilian has been unavailable instead of Sturridge. The former England international has been hampered with several injuries in the last few seasons which has been a major factor in him dropping down the pecking order at Anfield, much like Danny Welbeck's situation at Arsenal.
He is likely to be fondly remembered by Liverpool fans despite his lack of appearances and goals in recent years. Prior to his injury troubles he was part of a lethal front three in the 2013/14 season alongside Raheem Sterling and Luis Suarez and scored 21 goals in 29 Premier League appearances as they went close to the title under Brendan Rodgers.
So with an exit from Merseyside looking like it is on the cards, what is next for Sturridge? He is likely to have plenty of options despite his injury record, and we have taken a look at the betting odds to see where bookmakers feel he could go this summer.
Leicester City and Rangers favourites to secure Sturridge transfer
According to bookmaker Sky Bet, a move to Leicester City is the most likely. They are offering odds of 7/2 for the 29-year-old to go to the King Power Stadium, and this is a link that has been made due to the fact that his former manager Rodgers is now in charge of the Foxes.
It was reported in the Leicester Mercury back in April that the Northern Irishman was weighing up making a move for Sturridge. As already mentioned he managed to get the best out of the player during their time together at Liverpool and may feel that he can get him performing somewhere near to that level once again, and therefore may well be worth a punt as a free transfer.
Jamie Vardy is the first choice striker for Leicester and is pretty much undroppable, but with Rodgers admitting that he may experiment with a two up front in pre-season it may be that there is a position alongside to him up for grabs. Kelechi Iheanacho will be the man at the front of the queue for that position, but with Shinji Okazaki leaving the club it does mean that they have space for another striker. Could Sturridge be that man?
Rangers are the other club towards the top of the betting market, with odds of 4/1 available. Yet again it is likely that the reason for this is down to who the manager is, with Steven Gerrard being a former teammate of Sturridge's at Liverpool.
Moving to the Scottish Premiership is unlikely to be a priority for him at this stage of his career though. He is still only 29 and he will feel that if he can keep himself fit he is more than capable of playing regularly in the Premier League still.
