Guiseley vs Fleetwood Town

The final match in the second-round of the FA Cup will see National League North side Guiseley take on League One Fleetwood at Nethermoor Park on Monday night. The tie should be an interesting one between two sides who are more than capable of getting into the next round and both teams’ managers will be keen on setting up a match against big-name opposition in the third-round. The teams have met on four occasions before, all of which came in the Northern Premier League from 2006-2008 – and it’s honours even on the head-to-head front as both sides have won a game and drawn two others.

Guiseley have been struggling in their league campaign and joint-managers Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill currently find their side in 16th, just three points above the relegation zone and a huge 17 points outside of table toppers Bradford. However, attentions turn to a huge domestic competition this week as Guiseley take on League One Fleetwood in the FA Cup and the hosts know a win, which is huge odds of 7/1 with Bet365, could set them up with a date in the third-round against a big-name opponent. They’re unbeaten in three and their first-round 4-3 win over Cambridge United was clear evidence of exactly what Guiseley are capable of, but they undeniably face an uphill task against Fleetwood at Nethermoor.

The hosts’ last three games have seen both teams to score and that is a bet we like here at evens with William Hill, whilst over 2.5 goals @ 8/11 with the same bookmaker is another bet we like the look of. Spearheading the home attack in front of what is expected to be a sell-out crowd will be Will Hatfield and he’ll be confident of grabbing a goal in this one after scoring a decisive goal against Cambridge in the first-round. Hatfield to score first here is 22/1 with Sky Bet, whilst talisman Rowan Liburd is 10/1 with Paddy Power and he’ll be confident of making it six in five for the season.

Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town haven’t exactly had the greatest season so far in League One, with Monday’s visitors sat in 12th after 20 matches. However, the Cod Army’s attentions now turn to the FA Cup and the travelling fans for their game against Guiseley know a win here against the National League North side could set up a huge match against a big-name opponent in the third-round. Fleetwood won their last match 3-0 and they are the 4/9 favourites with Bet365 to win a second consecutive game here. However, their last two away games have ended in losses and they’ll be vying to put that right here. Fleetwood HT/FT is another bet we like at 6/5 with Betfred and -1 handicap for Fleetwood is 5/4 with Ladbrokes – again, another bet we like.

In attack, Fleetwood will be more than confident that they’ll have too much in terms of class for their National League North opponents, but their main men will still have to turn up in a tie which is still a potential banana skin here. Ched Evans leads the scoring charts on seven goals and the Welshman is 10/3 with Coral to score first here, whilst Patrick Madden is second with six goals and the Irishman is attractive odds of 7/2 with Sky Bet to find the back of the net first. Other standout threats include veteran midfielder Dean Marney, who is 13/2 with William Hill to find the back of the net anytime over the 90 minutes – and the impressive Wes Burns, who is 2/1 with Bet365 to score.
