The Monday night football this week sees Burnley host Newcastle United at Turf Moor. Both sides have had a solid start to this campaign, picking up impressive wins throughout the early stages of the season. Burnley seemed to have overcome the troubled away days from last season, where they picked up just one win away from home all season, already managing to double that tally this campaign. Newcastle find themselves a point and a place higher than Burnley in the League table and although The Magpies have only managed to win one game in their last four, their solid start to the season is still intact.

Slow start at home?

After creating a fortress at Turf Moor last season, Burnley have found it hard to replicate their home form, winning only one at Turf Moor so far this season.  Visiting teams are approaching Turf Moor with more caution this season and looking to frustrate Burnley, resulting in The Clarets finding wins at home hard to come by. Burnley will be hoping club-record signing Chris Wood will be fit for the game, after the striker came off early-on in Burnley’s last game away to Man City. The striker is the club’s leading goalscorer this season, with four goals in all competitions and it would be a major boost to the Clarets if the New-Zealand international can make the starting XI. The incentive for Burnley to win is huge, with three points putting the Clarets into seventh position in the Premier League.

Trouble for the travelling Toon Army!

In contrast to Burnley’s form this season, Newcastle have managed to get three wins from their last four home games. Rafa Benitez’s side have found it hard to kick on in their away fixtures this season picking up only four points from four games. Newcastle were unlucky not to take all three points in their last away game at Southampton and managed to get a late winner last week at home to Palace. Benitez’s side are going into the MNF game in good form and will likely cause problems for the home side.
