AC Milan vs Torino Betting Preview – 09/12/2018

AC Milan vs Torino

Milan welcomes Torino to San Siro this weekend with the Rossoneri now serious contenders for a Champions League spot next season. Gennaro Gattuso’s men currently sit fourth in the Serie A standings. Torino have been one of the surprise packages of the Serie A season so far and currently reside in sixth place. Their European credentials will be tested to the limit this weekend however, as Walter Mazzarri’s men look to qualify for at least a Europa League spot next term. The Granata have not beaten Milan in their last 18 attempts although the last three meetings have ended in a draw; the corresponding game last season finishing goalless.

Milan Coach Gattuso celebrates a year at the helm of one of Italy’s biggest clubs and the former Italian World Cup winner has had to fend off severe criticism as he tries to put together a squad that can challenge both domestically and in Europe. In Patrick Cutrone he has one of the best young strikers in Serie A and after netting last weekend in the 2-1 win over Parma, Bet365 price him at 8/5 to be on target once again on Sunday.

Gattuso also welcomes back Argentine marksman Gonzalo Higuain who has been absent for the past two games due to suspension. The 30-year-old has five goals to his name so far this term and he could make the difference this weekend with Betfair offering 3/4 for a home win.

Captain Alessio Romagnoli could return to the centre of defence but Gattuso may decide to rest him for an extra week with a busy schedule of matches to come. Midfielder Lucas Biglia will be out until after the winter break with his midfield partner Giacomo Bonaventura out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.

Walter Mazzarri is back on the bench at Torino after a recent health scare and he will be glad that his main striker, Italian international Andrea Belotti is back amongst the goals having converted a penalty in the 2-1 home win over Genoa last weekend. Belotti is an 11/8 anytime goalscorer with Bet365 this Sunday.

With 19 goals for the campaign so far, Torino has the worst scoring record of the top eight teams, but having only conceded 16, the Granata has a better defensive record than Sunday’s hosts. William Hill price them at 15/4 to pull off an away win whilst a repeat of last season’s goalless draw comes in at 9/1.
