Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur Betting Preview – 19/12/2018

Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur

The North London derby might have already happened once in the Premier League this term and it was Arsenal who ran out 4-2 winners in a six-goal thriller, but visitors Tottenham make the short trip to the Emirates for the second time this month in pursuit of revenge on Wednesday evening. This time around the game is in the EFL Cup quarter-final and both sides are desperate to go one step closer to booking their place at the famous Wembley Stadium in an attempt to add some silverware to their cabinet, but they face the tough task of playing each other in order to do so and the game should make for compelling viewing for the neutral in midweek.

Arsenal have begun to really make progress under manager Unai Emery this term in both the Premier League and Europa League – and fans couldn’t have asked for much of a steadier start in the first season without Arsene Wenger. However, this week attentions turn to one of the biggest fixtures they could possibly play against bitter rivals Spurs and the match is even bigger considering it is in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup. Arsenal are 8/5 to win here with Bet365 and that is a bet we like considering how they dealt with Tottenham on home soil the last time they met. However, Emery’s side will have to bounce back from a 3-2 defeat to Southampton from last time out if they hope to go through to the semi-finals of the competition.

The Gunners kept back-to-back clean sheets prior to that and that repeated here is 3/1 with Sky Bet, whilst both clean sheets came with a 1-0 victory and that result for Arsenal is 11/1 with Paddy Power. Leading the line will be top goal-scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and after bagging ten this season, the striker looks a good bet to score another here at 10/3 with Bet365. Other real threats in the hosts’ side consist of French star Alexandre Lacazette, who is 9/2 with Coral to score first and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is a big 15/2 with Ladbrokes to net the first goal of the evening.

Tottenham will be on the hunt for revenge against their North London rivals this Wednesday after being beaten 4-2 the last time these two sides met at the Emirates at the start of December. The visitors will feel they deserved better than the result suggested last time here, particularly given they were in the lead and having scored two goals. Spurs are 13/8 to win with William Hill, whilst the draw is 5/2 with Paddy Power. Tottenham double chance is also a bet we like at 6/11 with William Hill and over 3.5 goals at 17/11 with Betfair is another bet we like. Both teams to score is a nice price at 1/2 with Paddy Power also.

Leading the line will be none other than Englishman Harry Kane and considering he loves scoring in this fixture, his price to score first of 10/3 with Coral is an attractive bet. Son Heung-Min is a danger to any team with his pace and the South Korean is 7/1 with Ladbrokes, whilst Lucas Moura is 8/1 with Boylesports to score first. Dele Alli is 9/1 with Sky Bet to bag the first goal, whilst Christian Eriksen is a threat from set pieces and the Dane is 11/1 with William Hill.
