Barnet vs Brentford Betting Preview – 28/01/2019

Barnet vs Brentford

Brentford travels over to the Hive Stadium this Monday to face Barnet in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup. The hosts are the lowest ranked side left in the FA Cup and will need a healthy dose of FA Cup magic to help them succeed against their Championship opponents. It would not be the first Championship side Barnet have knocked out with them getting the better of Sheffield United in their previous round. Brentford will be hoping for a simple enough win from this fixture and arrive in good form to do so, with them winning their last three games.

Barnet’s success in the FA Cup has come at a huge surprise due to their level of opponents they have faced and down to their poor form in the league this season. The hosts find themselves down in 16th in the Conference Premier and are without a win in their last two league games following their recent 4-0 loss to Braintree Town. despite being in poor form in their league, Barnet have secured three wins in their last five, three of which have come from their cup fixtures. If you fancy Barnet to defy the odds once more this Monday then SkyBet is offering odds of 5/1 for them to do so.

The hosts have bagged 26 goals this season which places them as one of the lower scoring sides in the league and all three of their last victories have seen them win by a margin of one goal. SkyBet has Barnet to win by exactly one goal priced at 8/1.  Darren Currie has two players to look to when needing goals and they are Shaquile Coulthirst and Wesley Fonguck, who both have six goals apiece this season. Coulthirst has two in his last three and scored the crucial winning goal against Sheffield United in their previous round. Bet365 have Coulthirst to score anytime priced at 3/1.

Thomas Frank will be expecting a win from his side in this cup clash, but after seeing them knock out Sheffield United he will be keeping his wits about him. Much like their opponents, Brentford are having a poor season in their league as they currently sit down in 17th. However, Frank’s men arrive in some rare good form which has seen them go seven games unbeaten and have picked up four wins along the way. Betway is offering odds of 8/15 for Brentford to secure the ‘W’ in this cup clash.

With 43 goals scored, Brentford have not been slacking in the final third but their leaky defence has been causing them problems throughout the season. Over the last five games, they have been far stronger at the back with them conceding just four goals and have racked up nine of their own. Their last two fixtures have seen them score 3+ goals and SkyBet have them score 3+ again priced at 21/10. Neal Maupay is by far his sides highest scoring player with 17 goals to his name this season and is bound to cause Barnet problems on Monday. Bet365 have the forward priced at evens to add to his tally.
